I just received this email from Ana. Our hearts and deepest condolences go out to Ana and the Donzino family.

Hi,

Hola,

I wanted to let you know that Daniel died last Sunday. The saddest news ever. Beau Geste will keep on working without his alma mater, and I'll have to learn to live without my life companion.

Quería que supieran que Daniel murió el domingo a la noche. Es la noticia mas triste que haya tenido que dar en mi vida. Beau Geste seguirá adelante sin su alma mater, y yo tendré que aprender a vivir sin el compañero de mi vida.

I wish you the best Christmas with your loved ones, and a very Happy 2010.

Les deseo la mejor Navidad con sus seres queridos, y un muy feliz 2010.

I heard yesterday and was shocked. He was such a young man; only 50. It brought to mind the death of my father at an equally young age of 56.

I remember meeting Daniel at the Chicago Show in 2005 and it was at the end of a long show and I quipped in Spanish "Cansado?" (tired) and he replied "Cansado y Casado," meaning married. We had a good laugh at that play on words. I will never forget that little exchange.

Estoy y soy muy trastorno en su perdida Ana.

My best to you in this terrible time.

Con amor y respeto,

Anna, I am so sorry to hear of your loss.
Please know that I feel that his creative talent and story telling ability will be a loss to our miniature industry as a whole. Some of the most interesting work, including the highly competitive area of WWII, has come from his bench these past few years.
We shall all miss him and his work.

Ana,
My deepest sympathy's to you and your family, he had the creative ability we all admired. Your business is one of the best and most innovative in the world, I must say he was a lucky man to have been able to spend his days doing what he loved.
