Im looking for Victorian era civilian figures. Anyone know of any companies out there selling figures like this? the ideal figures would be Sarum's "La Belle Epoque" series, however they seem to have gone out of business.

Trophy and Imperial made Victorian civilians. You can find them on eBay and elsewhere on the secondhand market.

If you can paint your own, Phoenix Model Developments had a catalog of Victorian civilian figures, which are available today from S&D Models, https://www.sanddmodels.co.uk/products_32.htm

Sanderson also made Victorian civilians. John Eden has a large number of them in his catalog. He can be contacted via his website at http://johnedenstudios.com/, and he also sells on eBay as "roseminiatures".

I use Phoenix and Sanderson Victorians for my Berlin 1910 collection. They are nicely sculpted and paint up well.

Hope that helps!

Prost!

I have painted 'heaps' of civilian figures for one of the local collectors,
and you can see them at the bottom of this page here http://members.upnaway.com/~obees/soldiers/pa2.htm

Many are by Phoenix, Sarum and figures sold by John Eden which come from various makers.

Hope you like my work,

Also have a look at Alexanders Toy Soldiers in Nick's 'Newbury Street' range, but at the moment they don't appear on his new website, but here is a pic from the London Toy Soldier Show a few years back ...

I collect Trophy’s Civilian Range and have quite a few figures. As Brad the Baron notes you can find these figures on eBay but supply varies. It’s taken me years of purchasing figures at shows, from other collectors or through eBay to build a collection.

Valiant Miniatures and Imrie Risley also had quite a few Victorian era figures if you can build and paint kits.

Here are some finished examples of Sanderson civilians...

There area lot of copies out there, too. Many collectors made molds of such figures for their own. I had some in the stash, but when I started buying from John Eden, I tossed those copies in the melting pot, because they were very poor. Eden's castings are excellent.

Another tip if you look on eBay-look for auctions with "railroad figures" or "Christmas display" in the title, or similar descriptions. I see a good number of auctions for figures like these, sold by sellers who don't specialize in toy soldiers, and that's a common way they'll describe them

In case you are interested, here are photos of my Trophy collection.

I prefer Trophy Civilians for the most part. They are fun to find and worth the hunt and price. The quality and diversity of subjects is there and as Brad's display shows, they pop, they provide a wonderful display.

People IMO sometimes only look at the price and I think you need to look at it for what looks the best to you. Take your time, you don't have to buy every set at one time. There is an active secondary market for this long sold out retired company and you will find what you seek.

Since you're in Broomall, I recommend, too, taking the trip up to Jim Hillestad's Toy Soldier Museum in Cresco, if you haven't already done so. Jim has a couple of large displays of Victorian and Edwardian England, featuring figures from the various makers we've all mentioned. Many of them are figures Jim painted himself, or modified for his displays.

Prost!
