The K&C Melbourne Dinner event is on this weekend so here’s a few sneak peek photos of a Vietnam diorama that my good mate Damian built for me.

P.S. there’s still more jungle to add…

Cheers Howard

Brilliant dio young Howard, I bet you are as proud as punch with the results. Tell young Damian he did an awesome job.

Have a great event this weekend and say gidday to Andy for me.

Tom

That Centurion just needs to make an appearance to complete the scene. Really versitale terrain board capable of handling a vast amount to tell the big story. Just fantastic Howard. Lots of photos please, especially waiting to see how the jungle transforms the look. Robin.

Very good Howard, jungle added will complete it nicely. I must ask how many M113 made up a squadron? Have are you got enough of them mate? :wink2: Don't know if you have yet seen the Centurion in the flesh, if not you will be over the moon as it is one of the best tanks Andy has ever done, it is a monster. You better get another diorama made just to take a squadron of them alone.
You also better tee up John to add the separate numbers and etc.:wink2:
I am planning to travel to Canberra and on to Mexico in September all things being equal and hopefully drop in to pay your good self a visit, buy you a beer and check out your shop come man cave and talk all things TS and Dioramas.
Have a good weekend at your dinner and I know you and your fellow Mexicans will show Andy a great time and bend his ear no end...
Cheers Cobber,
Wayne.

Wayne mate,
Steady cobber on those numbers.^&grin^&grin An APC Squadron has a total of 71 x M113, 4 x M113 (ambulance), 6 x M113 (mortars), 2 x ACV and 4 x TLC. Big numbers. I have just built myself a Troop, with Obee's help, which is 12 x M113 and 1 x M113 (Amb.) It has taken 10 years but I am counting the days until I get my hands on the mighty Centurion. I have plans and Dio organized for four, a Troop not a Squadron which was 18. It was at the first Brisbane Dinner in 2009 that I asked young Andy would he every do a Vietnam Centurion.
Damian (Parksie - Forum Handle) is a brilliant Dio builder and a master sculptor and painter. He has also done a second, but smaller Dio, for the Dinner. I have commissioned Obee as the resident photographer for the night, so when he returns to Perth you will get a heap of photos..
I will take this opportunity to thank yourself, greg and other who posted those magnificent Dio photos at the Brissy Dinner. An outstanding event and looks to be getting better and better each year. More to follow on your September trip after this coming weekend event in Melbourne.

Cheers and Best Wishes, Howard:salute::

I kinda think the first thing young Howard will say to Andy as he comes out of the airport gate is "where's my bloody Centurion!" ^&grin

Have a great event digger.

There you go Howard my lack of knowledge shows! I assumed and made a goose of myself! :p Just the same a troop of four Centurions in a diorama setting will be a sight to behold and looking forward to seeing it. The Aussie Nam series is outstanding in the sculpts, poses and painting and I am almost tempted to collect them but alas a bridge to far for my budget so will enjoy watching others do their thing with them. I had great fun creating the jungle dio Andy so graciously used to show case the Centurion and was chuffed he wanted to use it so. He has some good ideas for the series and for the ALH as well which he will no doubt relay to you when he arrives, I am also sure you have many ideas for him as well, as he always says...never say never. Here is one idea for him, although not Nam it would be a sure crowd pleaser...…

Wayne mate,
Already had a discussion with Andy about doing the Mk.3 two & half ton International truck. Can see great possibilities with it with a removable canopy and back to back seating. Can be used for cargo carrying or troop carrying. Very similar arrangement to what was done with the original AK Opel Blitz Truck & passengers (refer AK037, AK044 & AK045) It may be a long while off but I can wait. Took 10 years to get a mighty Centurion. ^&grin^&grin The Land Rover has many possibilities and also keen to see the Fire Support Vehicle sometime next year. The Vietnam range, both Aussie and American has many more years to run.

Cheers Howard

I'm sure that there will be a Centurion sitting on that road by Saturday p.m. and even a 4 man squad in action ..... keep watching ...

Cheers Cobber,

I'm already booked in for a couple of number changes, like the other dozen M113s I've done over the past few weeks :)

Even I'd consider buying one of these trucks, that's the truck I learned to diver, and later transferred my Army License to a civilian one ......

4x4 driving over sand dunes, AND towing a 2 ton gun ... that's real off-road driving !!!!!!

G'day Howard,
Congratulations on the 'Mega Dio'...The enthusiasm of yourself, Brett and Peter & Sven and indeed ALL our Aussie collectors for the 'Vietnam Aussies' is mind-blowing!!!

The general response and suggestions for the add-ons just gets better and better. Quite simply, it's the very best since we first introduced our Aussie Light Horse figures.

As soon as I get back to HK early next week work will begin on the Australian Army Land Rovers and the M113 'Fire Support Vehicle'...In fact preparatory work on the Landrovers actually began yesterday with assembling the plans and research photos for both.

Already in the works is 'Long Tan Set No. 2'

PLUS Don't forget the ANZAC Artillery!
That's all for now folks...
Andy.

P.S. Don't forget Tonight's K&C Event here in Sydney courtesy of Mr. Peter Nathan & Sven of Elite Military Miniatures...
P.P.S.
Howard mate, see you tomorrow in Melbourne...Hope the weather's good...Both Brisbane and Sydney have had spectacular days!
