Hi all,

Here it is - The Collector's Showcase (TCS) new Huey (USMC Hog version). Now that I've had a few days to look at it, my thoughts on the latest Vietnam piece:

Not perfect and pretty delicate, but a lot of "curb appeal".

Here's a few pictures to get things started:

and here it is in action:

more thoughts coming soon...

Looks great Rob and looking forward to seeing lots more of it !:)

Rob; what are the imperfections you have identified?
Katana,

I had planned to share a more extensive review but based on the lack of responses (and the quick bump of another topic), it appears that very few are interested.

For those of you who end up buying one, hope you like it.

Reviews are always good to have Rob. I think a lot of collectors are interested in these TCS Hueys.

I agree. I would very much like to see your review/assessment of this bird. Very valuable. Thanks, Larry.

I like this Huey from TCS but cost is beyond my range. I ended up getting the Revell 1/32 version and plan on building it very soon.

I built one of these last year. It is an older kit but for me it was fun. It is of course a bit smaller but never the less I finished building it in a reasonable amount of time. Not painted yet. I may try to do a medevac unit similar to the TCS version. Have fun building it.

I just got mine and I am extremely interested in your review. My thoughts are that the side doors do not stay on very well and it is very very fragile. I felt the detail was excellent and the figures are above average but still no where as good as K+C. huey.jpg

Any idea how it compares with The Figarti HUEYS? The figures would probably work with them. If I remember they had a bit of a door problem also but I may be wrong. Regards, Larry.

To be honest I have never seen the Figarti Hueys so not sure....

Gentlemen this is my first post but you have touched a weak spot
I have also just purchased the CSC Huey slick because I was not sure K&C will release a unit in their new Vietnam range . I have a slight factory issue with my model there is a combinations of decals of Army and Marine , But have reported the issue .
The CSC doors of the heuy have a pin and a guide so the doors can only be held open . If you leave the doors off you have a 5mm( 1/4" ) hole in either side of the fuselage and the doors can never be closed .
I own a figarti UH-1 which slide into position and allow for the doors to placed in different position also they can be removed if required .But the figartis doors are diificult and once in the slide that is where they should stay . I believe the Figarti is the better of the two UH-1 as the Figarti has all the seats in the cabin , The CSC has the backs of the seats but no seats . Due to economics of design as they use the same model for all three variants so stretchers can be placed inside the cab . Hopefully in the future CSC should allow for some seated infantry / Marines . The CSC UH-1 is around twice the weight of the Figarti but still fragile . CSC model has heavier rivet lines than the Figarti. but this is probably to break up the lines as the fuselage is usualy smooth this adds to the weathering and details by the dry brushing over the raised details .

Thank you

Damian

I finished my Huey and posted some pictures in model kit section.

Ok, I give up.

How do you get the doors to stay on? And how to you get the rear rotor to stay on?

I put a little tape around the rear propeller to keep it in better - not the best but it keeps it from falling off.
As far as the doors go, mine stay in if you push them hard into place, but with just slight movement, they will fall off.
My Marine Huey stays grounded - no swooshing and whooshing this one. {sm4}

Hi Damian, welcome to the forum. I usually post in the King & Country forum, but I have a few TCS pieces including this Huey. My favorite TCS item is the U-96, but that's a whole different topic.

Rob:

Thanks for the tips.

I made the mistake of putting the first Huey together on the kitchen table. The rear rotor falls off without being touched and the doors are being held in place by .00000001 inches on each side. The machine guns can fall of when I simply look at them. It is the medevac version and I am not even going to try and put the casualty in.

However, my wife gets home from a fitness competition Sunday afternoon and I have to move it off the table before she comes home or I am going to need a dust-off!

I just know it is going to fall apart the minute I touch it.
