Vietnam Huey - 1st Pictures (1 Viewer)

Two TCS VC, one with some conversion, ( wearing hat, which involved taking top of head off so hat sat ok, removal of scarf and repainting and removal and repositioning of arm with grenade) and two Del Prado NVA, one with very minor conversion of Pith helmet to bush hat.

Very cool Steve! Love the custom work. I like TCS 'Nam figures, esp. the Vietcong with hat. Do you find them a little larger than other 1/30 scale figures? I heard Brian plans to offer a second wave down the road.

Thanks Rob. Yes they certainly are which is a shame, in that US troops are noticeably bigger and so won't really mix with K&C or FL figures.
I've bought the laying wounded figure which because of the position won't be too noticeable, I also got the seated figure, which was a mistake size wise, though I may still be able to use him.
The shot VC are ok I think due to the pose and work pretty well with the Del Prado one, and I think since I they won't be that close to the K&C figures when they come. I've even ordered a third one, who I'll take the hat away entirely so each one will be slightly different.
The Del Prado could be used with a few duplicates perhaps for anyone wanting an under attack scene perhaps and are a reasonable sculpt and still fairly cheap, though maybe not so readily available as were. Probably to others thinking the same as me and getting them for scenes with K&C, FL or TCS ones !
In the recent Texas show thread, there are photos with a few more TCS figures. NVA & US Army, based on characters of the film "Platoon", but because of the size differential I can't see me buying those. Like I say, for me it's a Shame.

Rob. Now that my K&C Vietnam Marines have arrived I was surprised to find they are larger than other K&C figures I have and so I reverse what I said and the K&C ones will mix ok with the Collectors showcase ones. The Del Prado NVA figure, still fine as Vietnamese, certainly of the time appeared to be a fair bit shorter then Westerners like US Marines.

Good to know and widens up choice of figures. Might think about getting the CS M113 now !

I'm confused One post says CS Vietnam are larger than K&C VN another post says they fit together. What is it? Any comparison pictures?
I would get the CS also if they were compatable. HELP!

The figures are not compatible.

The K&C Vietnam range are larger figures than I am used to and much nearer in size to the CS Vietnam range, still a slight difference but since people vary, of acceptable difference to me, but we all have differences of opinion as to what is acceptable and what's not size wise .

Depending on whether you are thinking of purchasing their VC / NVA figures who K&C haven't released as yet or Americans, there are differences in the colour of the U.S. figures clothing and equipment. But to be expected as these are made by different manufacturers. The CS being darker. Perhaps they're less faded like FNG's !

The CS M16 is a bit larger than the K&C one. So you'd not want to put them right next to each other, but other than that, sure I'll buy some more CS Vietnam range figures, but then I do mix manufacturers figures from other ranges which many collectors do like to do but just keep to one manufacturers product.

In the end it's up to the collector as to what he or she wants in their collection as to uniformity of size, sculpting and painting style.

I'd like to hear from people who have FL Vietnam figures and either K & C or CS figures as to their compatibility.

Steve

I have the FL Vietnam figures and they are no where near in size to the K&C. Those 2 lines will not mix.

Gary:

The pilots in the Huey seem huge to me. When you put a K&C figure near them it looks like Shaq and Andre the Giant are the plots.

To put it in hockey terms:

Collector's Showcase=Zdeno Chara
K&C= Vladimir Tarasenko
FL=Theo Fleury
