We are proud to announce the release of three brand-new diorama grade buildings for the Vietnam War from Last Post Miniatures. All three are based on historical photos and work equally well to complement dense urban battles such as Hue City and Saigon during the Tet Offensive or smaller semi-rural towns and hamlets in Southern Vietnam.

The first is the ‘Binh-Dan’ Pharmacy. Like all of our ready-made buildings, it features exquisite detail including authentically aged advertising hoardings, posters and even leaves clogging the gutters! A two-story structure, the Pharmacy has the classic French colonial style but with a slightly battle-worn look. The ‘Binh-Dan’ would look superb in a setting on the Perfume River in Hue as the US Marines fought to regain the city.

The second is the ‘Nam-Thanh’ Electronics Shop. Again the model features period advertising including Melia cigarettes (a brand sold even today in Vietnam!) and National TVs and radios- perhaps tempting that GI or Digger with a few bob in his pocket and not much to spend it on. The ‘Nam-Thanh’ also features an awning which would allow the placement of a Viet Cong sniper to harass before escaping into the backstreets.

The third and final building is the ‘Uon Toc Mo Dec’ Barbershop. With traditional advertising (including examples of hair styles available and the classic Coca-Cola signage) and a world-weary visage, the Barbershop looks like it’s closed its doors for the day- maybe they’ve heard about an impending ambush and have decided not to take the risk for a few dong… It’s also the perfect setting to display your ANZAC Diggers, perhaps on well-earned R&R in ‘Vungers” (Vung Tau) chatting to a few ‘bar girls’…

All three buildings are beautifully and painstakingly finished to the highest standards and are ready to deploy out of the box. They will be complemented with the soon to be released Alleyway and Street Corner (which can be seen in the accompanying images) and joined together to create one large diorama, perhaps with a couple of Last Post Miniatures Palm Trees in the background to really add to that Vietnam look.

You have a winner! Please tell us when and how much?

Thank you, I've been waiting for this!

I've been to Saigon...These look legit.

BTW, the wall poster are terrific.

Carlos

Check them out on our wonderful host site, TF. Seem reasonably priced. Robin.

It be cool to know the measurements for each building (HxWxL).

Thanks,

Carlos

WOW .. these look so good, just like the real things I have seen on my travels in SE Asia,

I'm sure they will be most appreciated by collectors wanting street scene dioramas from this period.

Well done,

John

Thank you John, it took us quite some time, trying different things out until we ended up with a result we were fully happy about. The positive remarks here and on social media, as well as the orders we have received overnight, show that it was the right choice to continue to push for the quality we were looking for. We appreciate your feedback! Sven

Been so busy that something as obvious as that was forgotten in our communications... apologies for that.
The Pharmacy and Electronics store have the same dimensions (H205mm x W150mm). The larger Barber shop is H220mm x W.170mm
All buildings have the same depth, i.e. the size of the pavement, which is 70mm
We designed these so they would fit most shelf height of bookcases etc.
Hope this is helpful!
Sven

They look great Sven and just the job for Vietnam displays and diorama builders ! :salute:::salute:::salute::

These are awesome!

I really like combining building facades to create street scenes (did so with K&C's Normandy Village).
An especially nice feature is the uniform/connecting sidewalks. In addition, that rounded corner piece and alley connection, perfect add-ons.
Great stuff.
{bravo}}

Thanks WesternOutlaw - we are trying to get the add-on connecting sidewalks produced ASAP.

In case those of you looking for the dimensions in inches:
BLDG004 Vietnam Electronics Store Façade: 8" tall x 6" wide x 2.75" deep
BLDG005 Vietnam Pharmacy Façade: 8" tall x 6" wide x 2.75" deep
BLDG006 Vietnam Barber Shop Façade: 8.75" tall x 6.75" wide x 2.75" deep

Without a doubt these are as good as their photos. They compliment the Vietnam series perfectly and as a result are a pleasure to have in my collection. Shifting the buildings around allow for different street scenes, which are quite capable of looking realistic, which will become evident in the hands of some our forum members who have a talent for realism. Plan to populate with more civilians and Aussie soldiers in the coming months. Sven and Frank are very passionate with this hobby, so expect high standards now and in the future. Robin.

Okay, nice job!

Nice composite of various manufactures products to tell a story. The buildings are real plus, yet the backdrops finishes off the look.

How did you get the backdrops?

The guy on the bike was produced by a Singapore company and I've been wondering how it scales with King and Country and Thomas Gunn. Thanks for showing how.

The VW Bus; where did you get that? It really adds to the scene.

The Hong Kong policemen; that's a different look. However, who cares? It's your diorama and it kind of fits anyway.

Question: How sturdy are buildings? Do they remain upright without any assistances?

Have you been to Saigon? Do the buildings seem tall enough and to scale of the figures; especially the space between fist and second floors?

The buildings do look great! The signage gives your story authenticity! Thank you for taking the time to bring it to us.

Hi Carlos, very happy with these 3 buildings and a little birdie said there might be some more eventually .^&cool
They are fairly heavy so sit nicely. As you are aware there is a corner and alley way in the works which allows further set out flexibility. I just printed out some 1960’s images of Vietnam and stuck on them on the shelf to make a cheap backdrop. The cane stand and palms are excellent also to give it that tropical feel. You are correct that bicycle is from the that Singapore company as is the policeman, also lovely people to deal with. The VW is possibly 1/32, on eBay from China, very cheap $29 free shipping. My local painter scuffed it up a bit. The guys at LPM plan to make this a shelf diorama so overall this is going to one heck of a layout. K&C’s new release of the Land Rover will be coming into this town soon and some more Vespa Scooters which will jazz up the scene. Very excited about this whole enterprise and had something like this in mind 2 years ago when I first started to collect’ Aussies in Vietnam’, so a dream come true. Cannot see how anyone could be disappointed with these, they are a quality product. Cheers, Robin.
