I recently returned from a trip to Europe where we spent time in Paris, Waterloo and Bastogne. We were honored to be able to spend time with WWII veterans in Belgium touring the battlefield and attending various ceremonies. We wrapped up our trip with a visit to the American Military Cemetery in Luxembourg before retuning home. The Granddaughter of General George S. Patton accompanied our group to visit the grave of her Grandfather, so our friend Dennis Boldt could visit “His General”. Dennis served in Patton’s Third Army during the latter half of his service in the ETO, and in the immediate post war period was a jeep driver to headquarters where his dog “Herman” met General Patton’s dog “Willy” face to face! I brought a figure of Patton as he would have appeared during the winter of 1944/45 and was able to present it to Helen Patton after a brief service at the site and wanted to share it with you.
