I just purchased a box of the new Vixtrix Napoleonic British, not cheap I have to add.
I'm very disapointed. They are almost 62mm - not 54mm. Very stiff chunky blokes. I was hoping to be able to use them with my Airfix Collectors series kits and multi pose - but they are far too big.
They are very simple kits - just arms, heads and packs to be glued which seriously limits what you can do with them.

Hi
thanks for the review on these as I was uncertain abiout getting a box because they did seem to be a bit on the big size - now I dont think I will buy any. Its a pity as their 28mm figures work out ok and I have several boxes together with the Perry Miniatures Heavy French Cavalry and will continue to buy the 28mm sets.
Regards
Dave

It all depends on how you want to use them. Personally, I think they will go well with the Britains/First Legion metal Napoleonics so I am very pleased with what I have seen so far.

I would still get a set of Victrix there size does not bother me that much i also like the idea of posing them how i like

i think you are right rob ,my acw figs are all different sizes ,tssd, deetail, accurate, imex etc, set up in mass doesn't really matter.
speaking of size does anyone know of any decent trees for 54mm?

All you can do is move the arms and heads - unlike Airfix you cannot swap over leg positions or bodies. Also having all the straps, ammo pouches, canteens, etc severvely limits just what you can actually achive with them

I looked at these figs on-line and the newer French set. I don't see myself collecting them because of the cost and the size next to what I already have. If you started a new "universe" consisting of all Victrix figures, that's a possibility. The French look "neat" because they are still in the bi-corn hats. Any unit representation might need 4 boxes of each set to get a respectable firing line or advancing line. Extra drummers and officers could be traded or sold off or used as separate display figures.

Yea i know there are limits...I have done some 28mm versions so i guess the 54's are about the same.
still its possible to pose them so no two are the same.....by having arms a little lower or higher...heads facing more to the right or left.

Scott i geuss they could be used as a stand alone set up {early Napoleonic} Spain Maybe.

I'm thinking Spain! Both sets look like one could add the campaign or field look to the standard uniforms.

Where did you see French figures? So far I have only seen the British in 54mm. The cost depends on the comparison I think. At less than $2 per figure they sure look good against metal.

"At less than $2 per figure they sure look good against metal. "

Well yes, but they don't sell them per figure and speaking only for me, $36.00 is prohibitive when I can get 2 boxes with 36 figures for the same price of another brand. Rather than judge them as TOO expensive, I'd say too expensive for me.

Armies in Plastic have a good FFL playset that comes with a Fort plus 3 boxes of figs.
Not bad value for about US$60 the fort is rather basic but should paint up well.
