Who's got sets of the VM figures Virginia Provincial Regiment of Foot and what do we think of them?

Who's got sets of the QHL figures Fraser's Highlander Light Infantry 78th Regiment of Foot and what do we think of them?

I spoke to a dealer this week and the VM's and QHL's have not been selling well.

I was thinking it maybe due to the 500 set run and collectors feeling they have time to collect them. Any ideas ?

I think the Fraser's are excellent figures and I have a number of them. The photo's on the web sites do not them justice.

I got the Frasers right away and think they are brilliant. Don't have any of the VM's but they look great. Hard to figure why some things sell briskly and others not, especially in a relatively small run of 500 sets.

I have both, one set each with one extra set of QHL-03 I was awarded in the caption contest :D

The Virginia Provincial RoF was of course very siginficant to Monongahela – So you need them. VM-01 includes the young George Washington. Monongahela was Washington’s defeat as well as Braddock’s disaster. The figures are the usual execellent JJ sculpts and I like the uniforms and color they add.

No JJD collector should be without a set of the 78th RoF – Fraser’s Highlanders. Get them now or wish you had later!

I think everyone sees the British line troops sell fast so nobody is taking a chance of not getting them, especially action poses.I think you'll see the same with French Marine troops.I have the VA and QHL sets and I think they are excellent.

I find the FIW warfare along the Potomac River basin (Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania) fascinating. I am collecting JJD figures from the Monongahela series to create scenarios that took place on the Virginia and Pennsylvania frontier. The Virginia Provincial RoF was critical in the defense of this area and for me is a much needed collectable. I have 1 set of VM-01, 3 sets of VM-02 and 2 sets of VM-03 and like them all.

I guess I feel the same way like everyone else - with one exception ;)

I have all the VM Sets and they go great with the Braddock British Grends and Foot Troops. That Cannon Set is wonderful ! :) The Battle of Monongahela is my primary set that I am collecting with JJD - followed by Snowshoes and 1812. Highlanders are in the POA series - not a priority for me.

I haven't started POA for a couple of reasons : 1) Balance of Purchases with K&C Releases and now some Figarti 2) The POA series are all 500 release series and there are plenty of the sets available with dealers everywhere 3) Still debating with my self on which direction to go next ?? 1812 ? Snowshoes ? - not sure

Andrew (Aussie Monty) and I have talked about this before - YOU MUST MAKE ALL 250 RELEASE SETS A PRIORITY and now you have do the same with 350 RELEASE SETS AS WELL ( BM-10 ) If not - you are left out in the cold.

So I probally will get around to POA - but, at 500 and still on the shelf - my focus is on other priorities.

I love John Jenkins figures and I have about 90% of the sets released to date. The reason I collect John Jenkins figures is to build dioramas. Here is my honest opinion on the sets in question.

For me these sets had a low buying priority because of the high production numbers. I knew that they would not sell out very fast. I also feel that these sets were not essential to building a diorama for each series.

I bought two of the highlander sets a few mounts ago. I like them very much. I would really like to see john releases a Black Watch series in the future.

I got the Virginia firing set last week. To be honest I’m a bit disappointed with them. The problem is that the basic poses are the same as the British grenadiers and line infantry. I’m getting board with the same poses and I chose not to display them in my diorama. The Virginians played an important role in the battle and I would be interested in seeing future sets with more unique poses.

Braddock Under Attack !!

You have to keep in mind that many of the BM sets have been out for a long time - a couple of years - and most are less than 500 sets. The VM's and others are more recent. I still see all the JJ sets of 500 or more available at the dealer - BMs, FMs, WIs, POA, and BOS. Even some of the early FM's are still around even at 250. So perceptions as to what is selling is hard to judge. The BMs may be the most popular but the low production numbers is also driving that.

I believe the production numbers are driving the market on JJD. Certainly since we have been collecting these guys - you have seen an increased awareness & interest in JJD.

With that market increase - what use to take a few months for 250 Releases to sell are now going in weeks / even days - to the point that BM 10 (350 Release) PRESOLD EXTREMELY WELL and Dealers sold out existing stock within days. Very shocking for us longtime collectors - good news for John Jenkins.

FM-03 and 04 available at the antique center in Gettysburg - I think they are asking $95 or something like that as of last week.
