Hi All!
While Richard Walker is in sunny California with Sierra Toy, Ericka and I will be at Conner Prairie Museum in Fishers, Indiana (Just north of Indianapolis).
This is their annual American Civill War event that will include re-enactors, music, artillery, drill demonstrations and a mock battle.
We will be set up with the Civil War vendors and will have W. Britains for sale and time to chat. If you are in the area consider coming of Saturday or Sunday.
More information is available on the Conner Prairie website: www.connerprairie.org

Hope to see you there!

Hi All!
Ericka and I just returned home from the Conner Prairie Civil War event this last weekend.
Even with the obligatory rain on Friday and Saturday night we had a great turnout. Usually we forget to take pictures, but thanks to Ericka reminding me I have a couple to share.
Here are some of the Confederate Infantry in formation before company drill on Saturday morning.

Here a couple of Reb Infantry resting in the shade across from sutler's row near the meeting house.
Notice how the two different style packs (Federal double bag and an Enfield pattern ) hang differently.

The Federal Infantry occupied the village and were encamped throughout. Early in the morning some of the officers conferred at the edge of the village.
The officer to the left has a good grade of cloth in his reproduction officers frock coat, with good colouring.

Before assembly, the music gathered for instructions from the officer of the day. A court martial was performed after the morning formation and one of the soldiers was charged with theft.

I didn't get away from the tent to see the battle on either day so I guess I will just post this again as a stand in...W.B. Rebs charging into the fray!

On Sunday, a woman walked by the tent and I was just stunned. It was the very prototype for one of the Classic Gloss Petticoats that I had already sculpted, and every detail of her dress was just spot on... the cut, the colour, the fit and the accessories. I just had to stop her to get a picture for everyone!

Well that is it for now. If any of you can make it out to the event next year please do! We will be there again with the W. B. tent.
The Civil War event is interesting for collectors to see and the museum is a great place for the family to visit too.
All the Best!
Ken

Thank you for the pictures Ken and yes that lady does indeed look like Clara from the petticoat series.

Thank you for the photos, Ken. Your diorama is just stunning again.

By this point, we are of course already used to the brilliance of the "Wild Grass Base", but I am always mesmerized by your trees. These two are fantastic again.

Thanks for the photos, Ken,
it was a pleasure meeting you and Ericka last saturday and to chat a little bit about the hobby.
That Conner Prairie Museum area is very nice and worth a visit.
One thing I forgot to ask about, for either the FIW line or the Petticoats, how are the chances to see a Woodland Indian Squaw?
Konrad

... Pretty good I would say...
Thanks for coming out to the event on Saturday. it was nice to finally meet you face to face. It is too bad you didn't come out the next day as the weather was really much better.
Did you get any pictures?
Ken

 I confessed to Mr. Dave already, that I actually got up in the middle of friday night just to put the accus for my camera in the charger.
Then we left saturday morning and took the camera of course, unfortunately without the accus
Hope I do better next year.

That does look familiar! :D Too bad the iridescence couldn't be duplicated...though the glossiness almost gives the impression of iridescence.

Could you imagine that painted as a flat?

Ken,

Good talking to you for a brief moment at the Conner Prairie event. Your new figures were amazing as always and your latest magazine was passed around the campfire many times by the guys in my company. The Confederates "Crossing the Potomac" really impressed us.

The lady in the picture is a wonderful lady and a member of the 44th TN. If you don't mind, I'll pass the picture along to her.

Beau

Hi Beau!
Too bad we didn't get more time to chat, you flew by my Sunday morning to a guard post while I was out taking a few photos. Please do pass along the photo to the young lady from the 44th TN.
Hopefully we will see you in Chicago... there will be plenty of new ACW to see!

I am off to an 1812 event at Ft. Meigs this weekend myself, where I will be falling in with the 1st Regt of Vol Inf. I will try and get a few pictures there too as it is a maximum effort event for the Brits.
All the Best!
Ken
