I don't have any Britains tanks or figures as yet, will wait and see what they bring out, I like the look of them so far.

Here's a photo of a Panzer IV with some Canadian soldiers, they look quite large compared to it. Even allowing for some tank 'sinkage' in the mud we can see that figure to tank 'sizing' is far from being an exact science.

The range of heights in your photo is interesting. I find WWII photos on the web a great research tool. The W. Britains figure is an exact 60mm tall from the top of the base to the top of the helmet.
The panzers are compatable with WB and they should also be with FL. I am in the process of repainting and detailing the Panzers. I will post photos when I am done.

It will be interesting to see how popular the new Britains figures become. I'm tempted but the bulk of my collection is 1/28 sized TCS, K & C and TGM figures and vehicles, smaller figures wouldn't blend well with them......imo.

I agree; plus I rather like the larger armor. The TCS Jagdpanther is one of my favorites. Also the Stug III, one of Brians best pieces IMO. I keep my 1/30 scale Figarti pieces on a seperate shelf with my Honor Bound Panther and TG Hetzer. Late WWII armor is my main interest the figures are just to add interest and character.

I mainly collect Aussie based items but I'm also into late WWII armour, especially German tanks. I have a number of TCS armoured vehicles and used to have the Honour Bound Normandy Panther and JP but in time I found their paint scheme didn't fit well with the other Normandy tanks and sold them.

Matt; that tall Canadian leaning on the Panzer IV has to be 7 feet tall! The other tall guy at the front is about 6' 4"; shows what grass fed beef can do! Tough to chew though, had some once in Victoria, B.C. and I almost needed an ax to cut it.

You are measuring wrong.

It's from the soles of the feet to the eyeballs, you cannot factor in headgear as that throws off measurements and scale.

If a French Imperial Guard figure is measured against a WWI doughboy, the Imperial Guard figure will be taller every time.

Factor out headgear in your measurements.................................

I am aware of this method for measuring the height of a figure. The purpose of the photos is to show figure compatability with the Panzers. IMO it looks realistic; what is your opinion?

The W. Britains website states their matte figures are 58 to 60 mm tall. I will agree for the purpose of this discussion that the figure is 59mm +/-1mm tall.

Assuming those are 21st Century tanks; they marketed their vehicles as 1/32nd scale, the figure looks fine next to the tank, so the figure is then 1/32nd, which is what I've marketed them as all along, they go with First Legion and Kronprinz, both of which to me are 1/32nd scale.

I did not realize that First Legion and Kronprinz were 1/32- 54mm figures; both companies claim their figures are 60mm as does W.Britains!

When you measure to the eye of a figure; how many mm height do you add to the top of the head; 4, 5, or 6mm? I have heard all of these numbers cited in figure measurement i.e. measurment to the eye of the figure is 56mm add 4mm to go from the eye to the top of the head and the figure height without helmet is 56+4=60mm correct?

With WWII figures I measure to the top of the head and subtract a mm for the thickness of the helmet. I can see that that would be inaccurate with Naps given the variety of headgear.

I use the standard wargaming measuring technique, from the soles of the shoes to the eyes, I don't add or subtract anything, my figures are 20mm from the soles of the feet to the eyes.................

Obviously the manufacturers are also having a problem with correct figure height measurment.

Are you serious, he may be taller than 5' 9" but not much taller I'd say.

Matt;
The tall trooper stands almost as high as the turret roof. The deck on a Panzer IV is 64 inches high. The height to the top of the cupola is 106 inches. I estimate he stands two heads higher than the deck. A large mans head is about 10 inches long. Two heads=20inches + 64 inches=84 inches or 7 feet. Camera angle could contribute to the perception of his height; but the angle looks to be level with the troops. The trooper in front is about 74 inches tall or 6" 2"; one head height above the deck.

I'm also taller when I'm standing on a rock, or maybe that's their bases.

The Panzer IV is also standing on the rocks and the tall guy is standing on the ground. The really short guy cannot be more than 5'6" tall. Great photo; any idea where it was taken?
