Finally finished.
Morning of the 6th of June 1944.The scene is set in Audouville-la-Hubert the 1st village were contact was made between the paratroopers of the 101st and the troops coming from Utah beach ( 1st contact between Captain Ray Herscher of the 1/502nd and Lieutenant Colonel Conrad Simmons commander of the 1st Batt 8th Infantry regiment 4th US Inf Div.) The pictures show a mixed group of paras and US infantry entering the village of Audouville-la-Hubert. It's around 08.15h. A mother is bringing her daughter to the village school. A local farmer brings his crop of the day to the village market. While a paras and an infantry man are crossing the street, 2 of their comrades give cover. Two young French girls on their way to school have just come across a para with camo on his helmet as he dashes off into the village looking for the enemy. An older woman, the bucher's mother I presume, just came out of the house and is amazed by what she sees in the village street.On some pictures you will see that the horse and the German shepard of the local commandant have left their visiting card on the pavement and on the road. There are roadworks at Audouville but no workers in sight. The bucher shop is closed through lack of products. A sign in the shop window indicates that there is no more meat.The German sign post shows the way to the next village but also to the coastal defenses: Widerstandsnest 7-8 and 10 and Stützpunkt 9.
hope you enjoy

Really nice, Guy. I'm loving the main building in the scene. I also like the positioning of the figures. The one US Infantry trying to silence the children is humorous. Great dio!

Awesome dio Guy, you have outdone yourself this time! I love how you have blended the backdrops into the scene.

Tom

Sublime scenes Guy, action packed, eye catching, realistic and well put together and superbly photographed.You are without doubt one of the very best dio makers on this forum:salute::

Great work on all of the details as usual! A good selection of poses to tell a story too.
All the best,

Wayne.

Nice diorama. In particular my favourite thing you've created is the treatment on the foliage on the paratroopers helmet who is shushing the kids. That camoflage is really reminicent of documentaries you see from the Normandy campaign used on all sides. Well done. ^&cool

Terrific Guy. I love all the details that make this come to life. You even have small tufts of grass coming up through the cobblestone street. Well done all the way around and the figures/paras look great. Thanks for posting your work. {bravo}}

thank you guys,
I will now start working on my next BoB dio , even bigger than the Normandy one , with railway track and viaduct. With German and US troops. With men and vehicles. Hope to be ready with this one for December
guy:)
