Wow Steve you really have hit the Medical scene hard. Have been looking at those new JJD figures, especially like the mounted one. The new JG backdrop has worked out well. Robin.

Hi Robin.

The Ambulances, I bought over a year or so ago, so of course when the attendants became available last month I had to go for them as well !

I'm quite tempted by the Artig stretcher bearers etc, but, being 54mm think they might look a little too small with my other figures.

The Wurst, "Sausage" being a strange sort of name for a conveyance to take surgeons, Doctors, Pharmacists and attendants onto the battlefield being an Atlas unpainted die cast that I painted in from my digging, hopefully in authentic colours for the medical service, obviously not professionally painted but the best my not so steady hands can manage ! ( Lucky I'm not in bomb disposal !)

Yes, the new J G backdrop certainly does the job pretty well. I've looked at the Hudson & Allen woodland one you have, but size wise it would mostly be a waste. I keep thinking as I'm driving around for work I really must make some time to take my camera along and stop to take some snaps of the woodland to turn into backdrops.
As an aside, a few times I've been told by French people living in villages around here that the countryside is very evocative to them of bocage in Normandy and oddly enough there is a village just out of town called Normandy. though the countryside there is nothing like the Bocage ! But there is an old Manor house nearby in Wonersh that the SOE did some of their training at !

Never understood the structure of the Ambulance, is it meant to carry a wounded soldier or medical supplies? Yes I also like the JJD vignette, but always gave it a miss as I thought it to be a strange looking carriage, although authentic. The add on figures make it much more tempting. Robin.

From what I understand, the original from which the JJD model is based on, could carry two wounded soldiers, one over the other like a double decker bus !
Doesn't look too inviting or healthy for that matter to modern eyes, but at the time state of the art !
Now that the figures and extra horse is released, yes it definitely makes for a much more attractive set.

Thanks for the likes and comments everyone, good to get feedback on these scenes.
