Waterloo 1815! British guard troops form square to repel an attack from french cavalry. Marshall Ney had committed the cavalry on early unsupported attacks against the Allied lines wich wasted the bulk of Napoleons cavalry force. It wasn,t until near the last of these attacks that some combined infantry and artillary support was also brought up to give the cavalry support. The french artillary pounded these tight form squares and causesd carnage with in them but the french cavalry also suffered massive losses from the fire power of these squares and from round and grape shot from allied artillary. What was left of the british heavy cavalry try and chase of the french attack.

Absolutely superb, you just cannot beat those 19th Century dios.;);)

That is indeed a cracking collection you have there. If you add many more to it you'll be in the position to invade Europe yourself.

I did the best I could with the limited time and space I had available. The time involed in gathering up all the sets, unpacking them, setting up the back ground, seting up the figures, snapping a few pictures and then having to pack this all back away again before the old lady comes home dosn,t leave me enough time to get a real good set up in the limited space I have to work with.
I wish I had a room I could leave this stuff set up in and be able to take my time with the set up and try and hide the bases of the figures better and do a better back ground set up and have the room to set up the cavalry in a better formation and not have all the figures so tight on top of each other.

I had to have the cavalry chargeing from the backs of the french guns to get them to fit and that looks like crap, but I just didn,t have the time or space to fix it.
The british square is tight to the background trees and I couldn,t set up cavalry around it like I wanted and I also couldn,t even move anywhere I needed to take the pictures it was so tight. I live in a small apartment with no room for this kind of stuff. I hope to buy my own place in the future and will make sure I have extra room in the new place to do this kind of stuff and then I,ll be able to do a much better diorama.

Fish,

your diorama is way too compelling! it's just like the 'waterloo' movie!

By the way, I am looking for other manufacturers that produce figures compatible to K&C in terms of size.

I am looking for an Empress Dragoon dismounted officer and a mounted Scots Grey officer to lead my K&C men.

Do you have any manufacturer to suggest?

also, I saw a charging Hussar side by side the K&C charging Curassier general and the size looks fairly compatible, is that a Del Prado figure?

Yes thats a del prado figure. I don,t know how much you are looking to spend on figures to go with your K&C figures but the TINBAY and the figures from Figurine emporium are the perfect size to go along with K&C and are real nice looking figures but your going to pay about $65 per foot figure for them but if your just looking for a couple of figures to fill out your collection and add some figures that K&C dosn,t make that you want it might be the way for you to go.

excellent as always fish, nice conversions I see in there too.Lots of action and drama. top notch.

do you have close up photos of those Tinbay or Figurine emporium figures that you own to show us?

Here are some of the Figurine Emporium figures I picked up at a show together with a couple of K&C highlander figures. I think they mix pretty well together and seem to be just about the same size.

Tim,

Great dio. If this is what you can knock up and take down in a few hours, I'd love to see what you can do with more time on your hands.

Simon

thanks so much for showing the photos, fish.

I agree that the size of TinBay is a perfect match to K&C, as if they were made to compliment each other (do you know if K&C napoleonics came out earlier than TinBay or not?)

The paint job of Tin Bay is not superior to K&C IMHO, and the skin tone is too pale, like zombies!

and the price is scary!

I agree as what you've said... it's only good for 'filling in the ranks' of K&C.

Do you have the new First Legion stuff? The paint job looks superior on photo, you agree?

Tim

It will be nice when you have enough soldiers to set it up properly!:D:eek:

Seriously though, superb dio and thanks for posting.:)

Great diorama, no need to apologize about space! Inspires me to watch Waterloo(Christopher Plummer/Rod Stieger) and the scene with those aerial shots of Neys Cavalry charge:cool:.

Tim, It is good to see you playing with your soldiers again. Tinbay? Who are they?

Heres the link to the site! They have some real nice napoleonic figures but the prices are to rich for my blood.:( I guess if your looking for a filler or two to mix with K&C and they have the pose you had in mind these are a good way to go but other then that $65-70 bucks for a single figure???

I picked these up at shows at a discounted prices by talking down the price and grabing figures that had sat around a bit to long without much notice and the seller was willing to get rid of them at a good discount.
I can,t see paying this kind of money when I can get 3 or 4 other figures for the price of one of these guys.
