You know - I have been looking at my AWI King & Country Sets today and it hit me - WE NEED A NEW RELEASE OF AMERICAN & BRITISH ARTILLERY ! :D :D

What does everyone else think ??

Definitely. I am working on a K&C AWI diorama and just started buying K&C AWI figures and would love to add artillery on at least one side.

A howitzer would be:cool: or any arty for that matter. Maybe come out with a siege of Yorktown series of releases.

Yes, add me to the list of AWI artillery pieces. I have been collecting the AWI for a couple of years and have managed to get 5 Cannon/Howitzer sets (2 British and 3 Colonial).

The British wagon was a great addition but additional guns and crews would be fantastic. Tried to get some on ebay but the $$$$ is always high.

Yes, artillery would be great but I would prefer to get some updated firing lines for both Red Coats and Continentals. I'd like how Collector's Showcase creates a good variety of firing poses, not just a single 'Standing Firing' and 'Kneeling Firing' like K&C typically does. I'd prefer 3 variations of 'Standing Firing', 3 'Loading', 2 'Getting Shot', and the usual Officer, Drummer and Flagbearer(s). (Nobody just standing there drinking a cup of water or looking around.)

Yorktown, Yorktown, Yorktown--we're in a rut! There are so many more examples to choose from, too.

How about Monmouth, or Trenton, or a set of Knox' men bringing the guns overland on sledges to Boston from Ticonderoga? The latter were done in traditional toy soldier style by William Hocker, back in the day.

Or just a general set of a galloper gun with its crew? Or the New York State Artillery, with a portrait figure of Alexander Hamilton?

And maybe some bases from some of the other fortifications around the colonies. For example, a piece of the parapet from Fort Mifflin, for example, or a palmetto log base from South Carolina, or from Ticonderoga, or representing the Dorchester Heights emplacements?

Prost!

I would have to agree with your statement... The sooner the better as i dont have much more room for my american revolution figures...

The early gun sets were retired well before I entered this hobby 2 years ago ... how long do we have to wait for some new artillery :(

Wonder what Andy meant that ... they will not be concentrating on this range ? Only one or two release per year ? Are AWI collectors allowed to persuade him to change his mind.

Perhaps its a 2 way street, if K&C released more personality figs, reinforce the existing infantry and cavalry & new guns ... sales would increase.

For instance, there were 8 each of the continentals and US marines, and 6 each of the militia and British cavalry figs released ... with no reinforcements, where does that take collectors, who like a decent sized line/column or to "mass" their armies ?

I would like to see a Coehog mortar set. I would also like to see more troops, such as the 16th dragoons, however, I am not interested in "generic" troops of any kind.

At the Chicago K&C Dinner, Andy spoke about problems with production in question "J." All the companies producing figures in China are facing problems with production capacity -- there is simply not enough production capacity due to increased costs and labor shortages. With limited production, K&C has to choose and produce sets that sell relatively quickly so capital is not tied up in unsold stock sitting in a warehouse. Unfortunately, AWI appears to be a slower selling line, which probably does mean one or two releases per year.:(

Well Boys - We need to keep up the Campaign !

Only a firing cannon can make damage ! :D

Thank you for clarifying ... hope the production situation in China improves, costs should be stablising or even dropping now.

Still I hope that Andy will re-think the AWI, NAP, ACW and the like. Mass armies lines need a different approach from the WWII sub lines.

As a "place filler there are a lot of great "toy" cannons that can be used until you find one (or ten).

I have seen "plastic kits" cannons that look 98% like the K&C ones. Painted it up right you can hardly tell the difference from a few feet away.

There are some wooden kits that are pricey, but even look better than the K&C items.

Even some of those Black and Brass "souvenir" cannons actually look decent.

Of course the other problems is the crews that attend the cannons. They are just as expensive at the artillery piece itself.

Anyone willing to paint his own can get the appropriate kits from Imrie-Risley, or Tradition, too.

Prost!

Finally!! Very impressive!!!

What do you think Ron?

Now ... all K&C has to do, is to release a couple more of 2 or 3 men gunner sets and stand-alone cannon pieces, and we will have a semblance of a full battery.

Just MHO.
