My wife and I traveled over for the weekend to Greytown on the 5.30 out of Wellington. The train was packed but we had the warm glow of contentment from completing a hard but successful week. My wife has just accepted a senior directors role and the CEO of my own organisation is keen to keep me around for another two years so I am considering an offer. So all good on the work front. Then there is the pure joy in living in such a beautiful and safe country- There was a German and Brit sitting opposite us and they got talking about why they both emigrated out here. It is clear that the quality of life and a safe place to bring up kids were high on the agenda. We have been in NZ for just over 4 years and I think we will stick around for a few more years yet.
In the guards van was a large box containing the Thomas Gunn Macchi 200 Italian plane and a bunch of TG figures. So some nice little treats for Saturday morning. On arrival in Greytown we did the Kiwi thing and bought fish 'n' chips which went down well with a good bottle of local red wine while listening to opera. We talked long into a sultry warm night dipping into a second bottle of wine (my head this morning regrets that).
We are off to buy provisions from the local supermarket, French bakery, butcher and deli as we have friends around for Sunday lunch. Apart from that its going to be a quiet weekend catching up on some well earned rest.
Not sure how much toy soldier posting I will get around to but I will try to get something up later today.
Enjoy your weekends around the globe.
