A while back there was a thread about how bad the History channel had got.

I kid you not, next week there is a two hour programme on the History of excrement. This is not a joke its an actual programme.

Over to you for your thoughts guys!;)

Rob

I wouldn't bother watching it mate.
It'll just be the usual cr*p.

Is this a UK special ? I don't see it listed here but we have C-span the Congressional channel which is 24 hours of crapola bought to us at taxpayer expense

Yes i guess its for us 'Lucky ones' here in the UK.How presumptuous of me to expect a History programme on the History channel, whatever next?

No worse than that show you guys have on the BBC, where that skinny nutritionist visits with an overweight family and gets them to diet. That show features a segment where they examine their stools, too.

Sometimes, on BBC America, in a most creative display of programming, that show is on right before Ramsey's "Kitchen Nightmares".

Prost!

Yep its all true(though to be fair i think its Channel 4 not the BBC).I think its an apt piece scheduling, both programmes are c***!.Ramsay is not famous for his cooking but for his absurdly frequent use of the f word.People argue that this is natural and 'Just his way'.Funny then that he does not use the word in front of his wife and kids, but its fine in front of everyone else.Imho another case of a jumped up chef thinking he is an a list celeb worthy of our attention.

Two monster quest episodes tonight followed by two UFO shows. There was a poorly received movie called "Idiocracy" where an average guy travels to the future to discover that the world has dumbed down to the extent that he is the smartest guy alive. History channel is helping to make that dumb down a reality.

Other than sports, and American Idol (it,s the female side of me comeing out),
85% of my TV viewing are DVD,s.

Guys

Here's a piece of complete irony for you-two years ago it was The History Channel that enticed me to sign up for satellite TV- two years later it was The History Channel that prompted me to cancel my subscription.

Our system carries the basic History channel which is real hit or miss. We also get History International which is better but the best is the Military channel. Lot of good shows on MC including the old Wings of the Luftwaffe. -- lancer

Not that it will do any good, but you can send an email to the history channel to complain about their silly programming: http://www.history.com/feed_back/index.html

BTW: I took a quick look at their message board and UFOs appear to be among the most popular topic. Very sad commentary on society.

It all stinks. I'm paying $65 a month for cable, and that's without any premium channels like HBO or Showtime, and it's nearly 95% crap. But it's a testimony to the addicting power of that idiot box, that I can't bring myself to cancel my subscription. Every time I think I'm getting closer to doing it, I decide to keep it. But that's $780 a year, down the toilet (can't get away from the scatological references!).

If you people living outside the US ever shake your heads in wonder at the things we do, this is why. We're addicted, as a society, to nonsense.

The show is called "You Are What You Eat" with Gillian McKeith.

It's not just History Channel. Animal Planet and Discovery Channel are both following closely on a slide to pure sensationalism with little actual knowledge being shared. I guess it's too much to ask for shows with neither sensationalism nor an agenda. :(

So what's left? Sports (hockey) and a few Food Network shows.
