The first episode was good. Some great actors, a western theme, intertesting plot. I'm not sure how long they can sustain the basic storyline though. I assume the robots will become increasingly rebellious and that might carry over to another season but hard to see where they go once they play out that hand. Maybe they escape into the real world. Overall though it was entertaining. If you visit places like Universal in Florida you can really see the convergance of computers, video games, and the like into something that makes this less science fiction than it was back when the original book/movie was released.

I watched this...
not your typical amusement park...
a tad confusing at first exactly who was an android and who was a guest (newcomer) of the facility...

but anything with Ed Harris and Anthony Hopkins deserves a chance...

didn't those steely eyes of Ed Harris remind you of Yul Brynner in the original?

I'm recording it...
so I'm in for Episode 2...

Yeah, definitely good enough to want to see where it goes. I also wonder where the plot will take us, lots of foreshadowing of stuff that could happen such as Management's Agenda. Is it some secret military testing facility, or ways to control the body politic?

I liked it, as well. I like Ed Harris quite a bit and this character fits him to a tee. I also found it a bit confusing trying to figure out who the robots were and who the humans were but I just stuck with the robot creed that they cannot harm a human or anything that lives. Anyway, I'm watching. -- Al

Yes, I was a bit confused by that as well. I figured all the folks on the train were incoming real people but then it turned out that one guy was a robot. And why exactly would the robots have interactions and conversations between themselves when no humans were present like the father-daughter did every morning? How would you keep the humans from killing or attacking each other instead of robots if no one can tell the difference?

I was wondering the same thing about how the ID's are made. -- Al

I'm in too, I like it a lot so far, a couple of jump scares already, the guy who got his face blown off by the prostitute and the saloon robber who was in the middle of his speech before he got shot..............we'll see where it goes.............

The guests weapons are only suppose to kill the hosts. And the hosts can fire on and kill each other as part of their scripts. The train is part of the park experience hence hosts on the train. The upcoming previews look like they will be showing guests arriving and getting into costumes and getting on the train into the park. In the original movie wasn't the gunslinger a robot gone rouge?

Correct on all accounts. The hosts cannot kill the guests, only other hosts.

In the original movie, the gunslinger lost every encounter with a guest until he shot and killed one, that's when the wheels started to come off.

That was a really good movie in it's day.

I gave this two minutes of my time watching the commercial. Total waste.

So far, so good. Episode 2 held my interest so it looks like I'm in for the rest unless it confuses me and I start wishing for Yul Brenner. -- Al

It's interesting in a way but it's coming across to me a little boring and drab but I'll keep with it for a while as it's just getting started.

...just watched Ep1 & Ep2, back-to-back........and enjoying it immensely....I like the pace of the storyline....definitely ticks the boxes for me...

I haven't seen the most recent episode which apparently caused a stir but the series was dragging a bit. I can see the inevitable rebellion of the hosts in the making with some contrived backstory to explain their heightened awareness. And a season ending showdown. I like the western themes and would have liked to see them stick with some of the guest adventures instead of constantly interrupting with trips to lab but maybe that is too much of a 1950s-type TV approach for HBO.

Just watched all "5" episodes of Westworld .... really interesting take on the original.
At first I thought Harris (The Man in Black) was the bad guy but Anthony Hopkins (Dr. Ford) is fast becoming the true EVIL in this series.

An interesting discussion on other sites that are proposing that William (Jimmi Simpson) and The Man in Black (Harris) are one in the same person, albiet in a different time frame (30 years apart) and William will go from GOOD to BAD

Looking forward to episode 6 and beyond.

I ended up mixed on this show. It ended very convoluted and complex. The repeated scenes starting giving me a headache. Overall a B minus.

Agree with this. Constant fight to keep up with the many replays of scenes/characters. Liked the last episode but not sure I will be back. I simply found it too complicated. -- Al
