What a good idea...... (1 Viewer)

Good idea but, watch there will be some black spots somewhere and you guessed it ''no signal'' and lunchtime for the shark. We enter their territory so, we know there is a risk

Yes I can imagine a no signal situation, stood in the water trying to get one as a bloody great White Shark fin appears in the near distance!{eek3}

Still if it helps cut the number of attacks it's a good thing, six deaths in two years is awful. Although it must be quite quick depending on blood loss, being eaten by one of those things is the stuff of nightmares.

The ''Jaws'' effect on our psyche must still be in play. I think more Australians die from being stung by the European honey Bee than by sharks. I don't think the film would have been as exciting had it been a Bee coming in to attack with the music!!!!

No it wouldn't quite have the effect would it! I'd rather go by bee sting though than have a Great White munching on various limbs. But as you said earlier, we go into their territory at our risk so you takes your chance.

Mind you Aussie beaches are so nice looking as are some of their visitors I think I'd be happy to just lie there and enjoy the weather and scenery without tempting the local wildlife to a full English breakfast!

Shark attacks are in fact quite rare, although I would not find that a consolation if it was me they lunched on. If you go to an Australian beach, swim between the flags and swim sober you are as safe as the English pound ... er ... probably safer. Sun burn is the real danger, particularly to our English visitors! I would venture that any shark attach is national news across the country. It is not a common event I would think.

Are we mixing statistics but I'm sure an Englishman is more likely to see a White Shark in Australia than than he is the sun over here:wink2:

There was quite the hoax over here some years back when there was talk of one off the coast of Cornwall because the temp hit 90 for about 11mins. I can see the headline ' White Shark spotted in thermal swimsuit off Tintagel' !
