hey Guys

What a weekend i have just had!!!

Up early on Saturday 4.30am and flew down to London. Picked up by my cousin and then we headed over to the new WEMBLEY stadium for the FA cup semi with my good old team PORTSMOUTH (POMPEY) my cousin told me we had a ticket but boy he did not tell me it was in a private box drinks and leather seats etc etc! the stadium is amazing this coupoled with the great seating and food and drink made for a great day when we won 1-0! and are now in the finals! there was over 40k of Pompey surrporters and the chants and flags looked amazing!

After the match we then chilled out in the box and then took a nice chilled drive to the pub near the airport and watched the GRAND NATIONAL the worlds best Horse Steple chase and following in my grandfathers footssteps (who liked a flutter) i had a few quid on 'COMPLY or DIE' and low and behold the beauty won by more than four lengths. by this stage i was more than on my way as well!.

So we then headed out for a chinese.

I jumped on my flight home money bulging from pockets merry and a nice tummy full of food! my team in the final and a big fat grin on my face!

My wife and kiddies met me at the airport and i was home in time to watch the highlights of the Natinal on TV an dthe highlights of the match (which to be honset were better than the match) but my team are through...PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPpppppppplllllllllllllllllllllaaaayyyyy up Pompey POMPEY ppppppppllllaaayyyy up

Is it possible for someone to give us an English Translation of what Tony said ??

Seems clear to me. His football team (Portsmouth but better known to its fans as Pompey) won 1 nil to get into the finals of the FA (Football Association) Cup. This, along with winning the Premier League Championship, are the two most important titles in UK Fotball.

They then went to a pub and watched the Grand National, another premier event, he flew home and saw the highlights of the GN.

:D I do drag a leg behind me,i really should have let the surgeons keep it after they cut it off!!!;)

I remember waaaaaay back in 1976 when Saints beat Man United in the FA cup final on the very same day my grandparents celebrated their golden wedding anniversary,i've never seen so many drunk elderly people in all my life!!

Don't worry Brad, truth be known although i follow England whenever they play i'm more of a Cricket fan than football. And Saints have been on the slide for some time now.I shall be cheering for Pompey on the day, after all they are just up the coast!

Rob

Everytime I think about "British Football" - laugh, because of a movie back in 2004 called EUROTRIP ! :p

Man United Fans - just cracks me up :D

That's a good one Ron....:D:D:D
All together now......"OH NO YOU DON'T"...!!!
Only kiddin'. In my hometown of Aberdeen the accent, yeah and even the dialect, can change dramatically from one part of the city to another. And that's with a population of only around 125,000 people. Can you imagine the difficulties when people from opposite ends of the UK are talking to each other..??:eek:
I remember a trip to London some years ago when some local tried to strike up a conversation with me in a pub one night. My companion asked me what he said - and I was forced to admit to her that I didn't have a clue..?? And I've no doubt that's what he was saying to his partner as well....:D:D:D

(Actually, he might have been trying to sell me Tower Bridge, but I couldn't swear to that....).

Cheers
H
