It ain't sugar white! I've used 'fine sand stone' from Heki (www.heki-kittler.de)
The beaches of Normandy are sandy with a lot of pebbles.
Try at your local trainset specialist.

Hi spartan71.....every time i am in normandy i bring home a couple of sacks of omaha beach for my dioramas!! Its quite dark sand, a bit yellow/grey?? A colour is of course impossible to describe.. I made a couple of years ago a dio of omaha beach (dog green) which i will try to post over the weekend, it might be of help cause the sand is the real stuff!!!. Just dont forget to use plenty of shingle at high water mark.
If you"re doing sword beach there was only a thin layer of sand over grey/black clay, so it all got churned up pretty quick!! But also with shingle!.......hope this is of help.

great dio,normandy1944,the jeep was one of my first k&c pieces and it looks great and the real sand adds some realism to your dio well done.

Should you use the real sand from the Normandy beaches, use it with
the greatest respect! It comes from sacred grounds!!!

I just went back and checked my photos from my trip last year. I looked at photos from Juno beach, Arromanches and Omaha -- all pretty much the same color. A medium tan with a slight orange tint. I would upload one but the life size is too big and I don't have the software here at work to resize them. PM me and I can arrange to email the photos to you.
