Now that K&C (KnC) has come out of the closet with plastic figures and plastic AFVs, how do I know what will show up after I place an order from the catalogue having never seen the model in person? Will a $45 metal figure arrive, or a $15 plastic figure, or something in between. Even more worrisome is the situation with AFVs. Is it a $200 polystone and metal tank, a $75 plastic model, or something of metal and plastic like an FoV model. One of the benefits of buying K&C was no surprises on opening the box. What is worrisome is the question raised about the new Pack Howitzer being plastic and the complete lack of further comment about the model from other collectors.

It is very light and plastic but I think the details are good.

Its an interesting and valid point and, one I have made and mentioned a few times recently. I began with the shock of the 25ILB gun which, was for me plastic as I saw one that came with great damage so, was able to inspect it closely. I was however, removed from two threads for mentioning this??

This was followed by the Panzer IV which I also mentioned after buying and repainting this felt very much like the old kits I built where you would add some weight inside the hull.

The pak I mentioned as this ''creep'' of very light weight items is creeping into what is now called the ''standard'' K&C instead, for me, staying in the ''plastic'' KnC

What is worrying, in the loosest of terms, is that its not mentioned by the manufacturer and, as you have mentioned not commented on by collectors, on here at least. Surely, and I have heard it many times from multiple collectors and dealers, that the weight of K&C was a deciding or extra factor in purchasing. How does this affect that opinion?

Predominantly my collection is K&C but, with no shop to see, inspect etc these changes are troublesome and, you just don't know what will come in the next box.

IMO, there is nothing wrong with using mixed media. And polystone isn't necessarily the best material for AFVs - it can sometimes be too heavy. But I would want better quality than FoV in my models and the level of quality may not be evident in an advertising photo. But this question does not seem important to collectors so I will just leave it and rely on reviews on the forum before making a purchase.

never been a weight means quality as that is absurd. Mixed media is the best way forward as a number of manufacturers have shown including K&C.

This is the place to discuss this as its a toy soldier forum but, I would think it is more than likely important to collectors I talk with a lot of people on here who are interested and concerned

I wait for reviews and comments from people who buy now and would have not bought the Jagdpanther after the Panzer IV

I am a bit puzzled by this to be honest Terry. The new series is KnC and is labelled as such on their website. So I am sure would be the same for the catalogue. I think the other big giveaway would be the price.

I can sympathize. I don't have a shop in my area either. I estimate 1/4 of my collection was something I would not buy if I saw it in person. I would be disappointed if I expected a metal cannon and got a plastic one, regardless of detail for the same price. Like a steak, I want heft, mouth feel and taste. I expect steak, not an alternative soybean steak-like product.
