What Got You Into This Hobby? (1 Viewer)

Hi, when I was a kid my parents would get me some toy soldier playsets. I think they were MPC or Timmee and maybe Marx. My grandmother would get me and my brother some Timmee soldiers every year for Christmas. By the time I was finishing High School most of my toys died in the great wars that me and my brother had:( During a Christmas fair at my High School my mother got me a Prince August mold set of Toy Soldiers. This got me interested again. This got me started. I started buying some Imex, Accurate, A-Call-To-Arms, Marx recasts. I was getting them from a Toy Soldier dealer from NYC. They were really expensive. About 4 years later while I was in Ireland I picked up about 15 sets of Airfix Toy Soldiers. The same sets I got for about $5 to $6 were selling from the guy in NYC for about $30-$40:mad: I never got any soldiers from him again. Then the internet came and one day I could not believe my eyes. It was Barzso's Roger Rangers Playset. This is was about 1998-2000? I got it from Kent Sprecher. He is a great guy. I asked him a question about getting some other Barzso figures. He told me that I could order from Barzso himself and gave me the information. He was not greedy, like some other dealers(NYC). Then ebay came and the rest is history. Ok, thanks for reading.

Specifically, Marx "Desert Fox" Playset around 1965 from the Sears Christmas "Wish Book". I loved them.

I recently jumped back into the hobby in March 2005. And they said I was to old to collect toy soldiers. LOL
