Terry, that might be exactly the reason why I think MG would maybe not be the best battle: compared to competitors, FL issues AFV's rather slowly. Arguably, in the last three years, he has only made four AFV's. And although I believe each of them is worth every penny, in a sinking economy, collectors will need to allocate budgets. I therefore think, Matt's emphasis on individual figures and vignettes is correct.
To avoid a misunderstanding: I am certain there will be very many AFV's to come, but I believe that at this point in time picking a tank heavy WWII battle would probably not be wise.
And, as I may point out, none of his AFV's has sold out. Which I think supports my argument.
On the SS, it is correct that Matt has said he would produce SS units if they are an integral part of a battle. The question though is whether he "needs" to pick a battle that is SS focused when there are so many more out there. Particularly, as Matt's competitors have covered all the big battles on the Western Front in so much detail. And at a time that Matt is selling through distributors in the USA whose inventories are filled with Western Front product and who continue to produce AFV's for these battles every month. You see how limited Sharon's stock in WWII FL figures is. And none (other than George) of the distributors to my knowledge has had the courage to stock AFV's.
Having said all of that, I can see the temptation from a wargamer perspective to do a Flame of War in 1/30. {eek3}
And if someone can do it, in my opinion it would be First Legion.
