What is current interest level in Romans? (1 Viewer)

The new Conte Roman Galley looks an interesting piece. Unfortunately missed out on #1 so hopefully this time will be able to obtain one.

I love Titus Pullo- thanks for the vid Carlos!! :)

Interesting speaking with everyone via pm/email and/or just reading everyone's reaction to Romananza 2011. Interestingly enough, no one Romans producer seems to be the crowd favorite. All the collector's I have spoken to really seem to want to cherry pick figures from all the new releases. I think that is very interesting.

All these new Roman releases are great, but no one has done the REPUBLICAN period. Come on. Hannibal, Scipio, elephants, Cannae and on. This is an era that needs to be done. This is classic stuff and certainly the Punic Wars rank as Rome's most famous. -- Al

Hey Al- St. Pete delivers a few figures for the Punic Wars. Blackhawk toy soldiers also tried to do Zama but it didn't go over so well. I guess it's just the appeal of Caesar and/or most of the Roman interest is on the campaigns in Britain.

I really think part of the problem with trying to deliver the Punic wars to the table is the War elephants. Very challenging to pack them not to break AND keep cost competitive/reasonable.

True enough. Elephants are rather large and costly. Still would like to see Cannae done in some manner. Lots of different troops in Hannibal's army and both sides had cavalry, and the Republican uniforms varied a lot. -- Al

Was thinking on the ride to work and listening to the Gladiator soundtrack- would be pretty impressive to see a Circus Maximus subset from one of these guys some day.
