Being new to the hobby and not reading the form everyday I am lost. What is all this talk about 'P'? Also how do You figure out the abbreviations, like FWI & AWI? Thank You for any help everyone. 'Mr Colt 45'^&confuse:smile2:^&confuse

Hi Mr. Colt 45,

The recent use of "P" results from King and Country releasing a series of figures referenced as "Premium." K&C are attaching the Premium label to figures that are intended to be more finely detailed and more finely painted. These figures are indicated by attaching the "P" at the end of the specific set number (i.e. Set #101P)

The use of abbreviations is frequently used to indicate specific manufacturers, specific ranges, or specific eras. I am listing a few examples below, but the list is certainly not comprehensive. If you do not understand an abbreviation, please ask and someone will quickly translate the abbreviation for you.

Examples:

Manufacturers:

K&C - King and Country
FL - First Legion
TG - Thomas Gunn

Ranges:

AE - Ancient Egyptians
AK - Afrika Korps
BOB - Battle of the Bulge
LOJ - Life of Jesus
MG - Market Garden

Eras:

ACW - American Civil War
AWI - American War of Independence (American Revolution)
WWII - World War II

I hope the above is helpful to you, but, like I said, when in doubt, please ask.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Those are all correct, you may also see:
FIW - French Indian War
ARW - Amercian Revolutionary War (some usw AWI some ARW)
TWI - Texas War of Indpendence
WWI - World War I (or Great War)

Maybe we should make up a standard list of abbreviations for everyone, I think it would be very helpful. When I first joined I did not know MG or OMG referred to Operation Market Garden.

Hi Walt,

Thanks for adding to the list. Actually, your thoughts and mine parallel one another. While I generally understand most abbreviations, I tend to forget those that refer to a series or era I do not collect. It would be nice to have a reference to which we could turn when we cannot immediately tranlate the abbreviation into a more familiar label.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat
