I saw this term in an ebay auction and not being a German military expert nor being able to read the language, can someone tell me what this is?

Well, I can give you 2/3 of the answer:

Ritter = Knight

Kreuz = Cross

I'd guess that it's a Knights Cross decoration (Iron Cross) from WWII.

Trager is a holder or carrier, so a Ritterkreuztraeger is a "Knight's Cross Holder", or their equivalent of a DSC winner.

Thanks all for the quick reply. Now, I don't feel like a dope.

Actually not. It had to do with a photoalbum I saw on ebay. I don't have the kind of money for a Knight's Cross.

Yes it can get expensive. I have a small collection of Armor and Cavalry Branch insignia for American Forces going to just before the Civil War and those small bits of brass are getting really expensive. I am really proud of this little collection and have managed to pick up some insignia from other countries too and only one piece is a reproduction and once I get the original for it it will go bye bye. But like I said before it is getting really expensive.
