What is your favourite sporting team? (1 Viewer)

Al: I just saw the top 10 tight ends of all time on the NFL channel. Mackey was of course number 1, and they showed that one play of him, where 7 lions hit him (some twice) and they couldn't bring him down....Stryker

P.S. It was good to see "19" throwing the ball again!!!!
Stryker, good to know another Baltimore Colt fan. I have seen that Mackey clip. It is a shame about Mackey's current condition. Another player from the NFL's golden years paying for the sacrifice of his health to put the NFLPA in the position it holds today:mad:. I have a copy of the 1958 NFL Championship game and I never tire of watching my favorite players in their prime. Unitas to Berry, Unitas to Berry... -- Al

Yes, he's in bad shape along with alot of the other players that played and sacrificed for all of the pmema--donnas today. Half of the so called "all pros" of today, couldn't play in the 50's and 60's-----too violent!

I think the NFLPA should be alot more concerned with all the ex-players than they are, because someday EVERYONE will be an ex-player.

Raymond Berry was in a class all by himself. My favorite raider player of all time Fred Biletnikoff is definately in his class.............Stryker

Interesting point about the violence of yesteryears games. When I watch the old films now, I am constantly cringing at the late hits, the dirty hits, the forearm shivers, etc. I don't know how the old guys did it and held up in order to play week after week. Of course, the retired guys pay for it in their later years which, as you said, makes it a crime that the NFLPA won't do a better job taking care of them. The 50's and 60's made the NFL what it is today and the players from that era should be respected and taken care of, no ifs, ands, or buts. -- Al

Al: yes I have had the same thoughts when I watch the old films. They didn't call alot of late hits back then. The receivers were mugged running downfield, and then were like a ping pong ball when they made the catch.

I totally agree with you, without the players of yesteryear, this sport would not be what it is today............Stryker

Second Quarter Final
WESTS TIGERS v SYDNEY ROOSTERS

* We (the Roosters) lead 2-0 after about 20 minutes.

* We then conceeded 3 tries and a field goal to trail 2-15. :(

* We finally scored a converted try (6 points) to make the score 8-15.

* In the dying minutes we scored again to make the score 14-15.

* With literally seconds to go we kicked a field goal to draw 15-15 which forced the match into 10 minutes of Extra Time.

* At the end of Extra Time the score was still 15-15 which forced the match into Unlimited Double Extra Time.

* In front of over 33,000 screaming fans we scored a runaway try to win the match 19-15!

Go the Chooks!

Pete,
It was an exellent game. Good on Carney for turning things around and getting Daley M. I would have to go for Titans but if Roosters won the finals would be a great turnaround from last in the previous season.
Excellent use of colour in your post :D
I note a couple of years ago in this thread Rob mentioned he might start watching baseball
For the record Maroons and Broncos.
Regards
Brett

Thanks Brett. :D

Pete,
Notice how a certain player managed to be in the team that came last last year and again last in his new team this year.
Let's confuse the US forum members with stuff they know nothing about. If they could get League going in USA they would realise their version of Football / NFL is a bit too much stop and start whereas League has much more action going on.
Regards
Brett
