what is your 'Holy Grail'? (1 Viewer)

Looking for Vietnam series VN03, VN08 and particularly VN01. KC has produced some classic poses.

I started collecting after seeing some figures of a set in a store...they were from DD054 beachmaster set...Colin Maud and his dog...:) but after 400 and more figures (from K&C and other brands) i haven't it yet...maybe the price is really high for me at the moment...some time i see this set on ebay but the prcie is really high!

I have the Beachmaster set, as well as all the Commando sets. Some of my favorite K & C.

I think the reason is why i really love the scene of " The Longest Day" in which the great Kenneth More played the charismatic Capt. Colin Maud!

My Holy Grail at this moment is one of the older Blitzkrieg sets; WS 41. Recently bought the Marching Infantry set( WS40) wich I searched for for more than 10years. Was without original box, but were in good condition.. One day I will make my collection complete... One day..

Mine was the old AK Grief. I suspect I will end up picking up the new Adler. Looks good!

these are mine, different historic eras

I have the KC Winter Tiger and Greif. But my "holy grail" is actually a set that John Jenkins gave to me a few years back. One of the six master sets of BM-01. He has one and his dad has one and a couple others. I had actually missed out on the 250 sets produced when it was first released. That one is a real treasure both due to its rarity and the fact that John gave it to me personally.

I just found my Grail on Ebay; AK 034 the best figure of Erwin Rommel in 60mm (65mm actual size) done to date IMO. The face even resembles Rommel! Plus the uniform colors are correct and it is the same size as the excellent TCS George S. Patton figure. I have them together discussing past battles.

I also found a Panzer II I was looking for AK 031. One of the best Panzers K&C has done. The running gear is clean and accurate and the very nice figure is actually the correct size.

I would love to find a Roman Mile Castle as pictured below, but the K&C figures are too large and stand above the merlons. I expect that FL Romans would be the correct size for a more realistic display.

I have the same problem with the superb Barzo Nottingham Castle. 1/32 figures are too large for the battlements. Merlons stand about 6 feet tall and are designed to shield a standing man at arms.

For me, it has to be DD141, the landing craft that can house a tank. It seems pretty limited, and just keeps getting more expensive.

Hi Katana,

Had to check this one out. The number stumped me for a bit. I think it may be WS034? If so, that it is very nice rendition of Rommel and one that I had not seen before.

It's WS 34, the second earliest Rommel done by K & C; he appeared in WS 22, the Rommel staff car. That was a very hard item to get at one time. At one point, it was my Holy Grail.

I'm swinging between AK039 Desert Tiger and WS077 Panzer Meyer's Command Car

Thanks for the correction Rob; it is WS034. I always associate Erwin Rommel with the Afrika Korps thus the AK prefix was automatic. I cannot understand the WS prefix unless the AK prefix was not used in 2001 when the figure was released. I had to look it up too; as their is no identification on the base. Sager has it listed on his site and it pops up with a Google search. I have seen several of these figures on Ebay and considering the quality its well worth having if you are into DAK.

WS 34 was released in 2001, prior to the advent of the AK range, which started in 2002 (discounting the earlier AK releases which were repaints of the early WS releases). The 2001 brochure, Christmas 44, shows Rommel next to an AK tank that was probably a prototype for the AK line.

I have the AK tank (a short-barreled Panzer IV) depicted in that advertisement. It was a one-off repaint of the grey version. I asked Andy when it was going to be released in the Afrika Corps markings, he said never, but offered to sell me the one-of-a-kind repaint for the then unheard of price of $300. I bought it, and never plan to part with it.

When I was researching my post for Rob and Katana by looking at my brochures, I wondered about that tank because it didn't match anything that I saw in the early brochure. In today's market for a one off, that was a good deal.

For those who don't know, Louis also has a one of a kind Desert Sherman; K & C has never made a production Desert Sherman. Hopefully, that changes one day.
