What K&C Retirements would like to have a Second Chance On? (1 Viewer)

I don't think the production number on 010 were that high. I think it was going to be 200 and then Andy got pressure to increase it so I think it went up to 300. I would imagine 09 was 500 or more but only Andy knows for sure.

My understanding that the Char 09 - was not that high - actually I believe you have your figures wrong Brad - the Char 09 was 200-300 range and the Char 10 was 500 - that is why there are still so many on the market.

The Char 09 is the rarer one.

According to the numbers provided by Andy for the book, 500 of the first Char B1 Tank (FoB009) were produced and the second (FoB010) was limited to 800 sets.

Thanks, Louis

So Brad and I cannot be confused as Accountants anymore!! :p ;)

Interesting that the 500 - Char 09 - went so fast and the Char 10 are still around in a good number with several dealers???

I wonder if it was ,because most collectors, who wanted one, were satisfied by the #09 original offering, and alot of collectors believed that K/C was trying to circumvent the limited edition program, by recoloring a copy of a just released piece....? Michael

I don't know how many of you remember this but back in early 05, Andy announced that the FoB series was going to be an unpainted series so that collectors could do their own painting but then (and I'm not 100% sure about this) when Andy saw how good they looked, he decided to have them offered as a painted range, which I think took collectors by surprise.

Regarding the 500 of the 09, and actually the whole FoB, I don't think they were originally made in large quantities because Andy didn't think it would have that much appeal in the US, it being intended that this would be mostly of interest to European collectors. However, apparently US collectors wanted them too and he was surprised how well it sold overall. That is probably why the 09 went quickly and he offered a 10.

I do remember that when he announced a new King Tiger (WS 71) and the repainted Char, he said they were being made in "limited" quantities and this ultimately resulted in a big brouhaha because he increased the numbers on these two items and people thought they were strictly limited items when he never intended that to be the case. If you do a search, you could probably find the threads discussing that.

ultimately resulted in a big brouhaha

How very unusual

Yes, we're so calm around here. Feathers never get ruffled. Must have been an isolated incident

If I recall well, the big brouhaha was in the forum of International Toy Soldier Gallery (but I may be wrong and that's why I started this reply with the words If I recall well).

Pierre.

Yes who can forget the 'Ltd numbers Brouhaha' and the 'Great Tracks debate' and 'Did the Rammjager fly mystery'.As Brad says,no ruffling of feathers round here!:D

Aah yes that was a good brouhaha and well deserved too because a lot of folks ordered those items based on information that changed with no warning.

Great word brouhaha by the way. :)

What I recall well, is that John (NJJA) was very upset :)

Oh and to have kept that Miss Saigon set that we had from Hong Kong years ago............if i only knew it was one of the last sets that Louis would need!!!

Tony

PS and Louis no sorry i cannot remember who and where we sold it to. Mind i think i remember it being a UK customer

It's not the Miss Saigon set, it's the Les Miserables set he's looking for.

Here's what Louis said about the set a couple of weeks ago:

"1996 "Les Miserables" set - commissioned for opening of the musical in Hong Kong, most given out by the producers to VIP's,the few others only sold in Hong Kong via the June, 1996 Hong Kong flyer)."

I thought Miss Saigon was a little overrated, Les mIs on the other hand I have seen at least three times and own the soundtrack
