This post may have already been done but I have checked back and do not see a post of exactly what King and Country soldiers we all collect. If I missed the post I apologize. If not I would find it interesting to see exactly what soldiers other people are collecting and why. To start the ball rolling I will give everyone a rundown on what I collect.
1. As my login name implies my first love is Napoleonic. As a kid my family lived in New Castle, England and my Dad took us all to see the movie Waterloo. Well once I saw those great cavalry charges against those British squares I was hooked. The icing on the cake was when the Old Guard refused to surrender and was blown away by the British artillery. Since then I have always kept an eye out for a great line of Toy Soldiers that matched what I saw. I was very happy when King and Country came out a couple of years ago with the soldiers I had been waiting for.
2. Africa Korp and Eighth Army. I think my love of the desert war comes from the fact that as a kid I watched too much Rat Patrol. I loved those jeeps and how they rode circles around those Germans. I never wondered why that German officer in charge was never replaced even though he always lost. Later on I got some Desert Rat plastic soldiers and it was all over for me. Once I got back into collecting toy soldiers my wife bought me the SDK 222 for my birthday and the rest must be mine as soon as soon as I can figure out a way to pay for them.
3. Normandy. I have the Stug IV and the 88mm Flak gun. I always loved the way the Stug IV looked in real life and who can pass up the 88. That is it so far since I have very little money left after the Napoleonic and Desert War soldiers. Hopefully I will get a large raise and can start collecting the Germans, British, and Americans as I want to. For now I love my Stug and I am real glad I got one of the last 88. Now to save up for some crew to man that bad gun.
Well that is it for me. If I do ever win the lottery I am sure that I will collect even more like those great Russians and the Revolutionary War line. Let me know what you guys are collecting now days. I know that on King and Country’s web sight they claim that their World War II line is the most popular. They don’t give any details on which one of their WWII lines is the most popular however. It would be interesting to hear from you guys whether King and Country is right and if so which WWII line is the most popular.
