I have the Britains Naval Brigade Elephant Battery Set shown below and would like to display some Naval Troops marching along.
Looking for 54mm glossy figures. If anybody could recommend some figures that would fit and are currently available (I am not planing to buy Trophy), I would appreciate it.

Hi Konrad

I don't think you would go wrong with Little Legion

I am collecting several at the London Show;)

Cheers

Martyn:)

Martyn and trooper,
thank you very much for the advise about Little Legion.
That is a fine looking set and it sure would go great with the Britains set.
I could not find this particular one on the Little Legion website. They are just showing a set of charging Naval Brigade troopers.
But I contacted Mike Norris via email, attached the photo of the marching troopers to my mail, and inquired about the availability.
We see :)

Scott,
Tradition has one big set, including two Elephants and a mounted Officer, but I am not aware of just some marching troopers. I might be able to buy some castings but that would mean more work  for one or the other fellow forum member :D

Isn't this set from the Indian Mutiny series? The Little Legion figures are from about 30 years later. They'll need different uniforms and firearms. The sennit hats and cutlasses are OK.

Yes, the Britains set is from the Indian Mutiny series, but I thought that heavy guns pulled by elephants were around for a few decades and since only the Mahout is with that set, it could work with a variety of troops from the Victorian period, unless the gun itself was used only during the Indian Mutiny. That I don't know.

Here is a picture from NAVY and ARMY ILLUSTRATED issue of July 10th 1896. No Naval Brigade on parade but a great picture of an Indian "Heavy" Battery on parade.
I have copied the picture twice to allow the info on the caption to be read, the page wouldn’t fit on my scanner;)

Thanks for the additional info, Mike and Martyn.
Mike, I like your suggestion of native infantry as an escort for the gun.
Have to take a little more time, I guess, before employing some troops for this gun :)

This Indian Mutiny Naval Brigade Officer would look superb painted by John in superior gloss, don't you think?

The "Pied Piper" at work again :D
Wonderful figure, Randy, but for some reason I am not going to switch to this kind of castings. I think, these are meant to be painted as the picture shows and therefor do not fit in my "British Empire".
In addition, I am already picking and chosing, since there are so many castings on my list by now that John could stay busy for years to come
But sure a great figure.
