we wish to add to our collection but what price would you pay/or have paid if the rigth soldier come along that you most have for your collection????????

Thats a great question, anyone with a lot of cash can buy pretty much

anything he wants. To me its a combination of the hunt, and the deal, both

of which are more important then the price. Often if you feel you have paid to

much for an it you may find you enjoy it less. My favorite pieces are the items

with a little story behind them. Nights spent doing research, messages or

phone calls exchanged, and finally the unwrapping of that special piece.......

"Hey....his arms are on backwards"!

This is one of my favorite pieces the SAS01 Jeep Set. It is long retired, and

I did not ever think I would get the opportunity to add one to my collection.

I was on Ebay very early one morning and it suddenly appeared from a seller

in Hong Kong. I was lucky enough to make a deal and picked it up for $125

quite a bit under its original price.

This is a shot of it next to the Dingo Scout Car.

Another favorite single figure for me was the AN011 Para with thompson. It was originally produced for King & Country UK and was limited to 65 pieces I
believe.

I chased it for several years, missing the first one at $35 on Ebay when I didn't know what it was. I watched it go for $400+ several times, then simply
not appear for fairly long periods of time.

It can be quite difficult to find at times.

Here is a close up, and a small group of them assaulting an SS stronghold
when I was finally able to locate a couple.

Again it wasn't really a question of price as much as availability.

If we are talking strictly K&C, the only one I can think of that I do not have is the LAH Drum Horse. The Santa in the Jeep for Christmas is another set that I wish I had. On the other hand non K&C there is so much I do not know that even exist. I do have some Imperial stes and Trophy ets that my Dad gave m that I have had for almost twenty years.

They're are a few Russian painted Civil War figures that I wish I bought when they were available.

There are all kinds of cool items out there. Its fun to see other members collections so you can see items you may have missed, and keep your eyes out for them.

No matter how rare an item is, if you look long enough, and are lucky you may just stumble over it.

Another item I liked was the M113's King and Country made. First there were the wooden version with opening hatches, then the resin and metal version
with about 15 pieces made. You would think the chances of finding one of those would be pretty slim.....but once again anything is possible.

yes we may well set ourselves spending limits spitfrnd but some times they seem to go out the window when that special figure comes along.

Personally i'd go so much over retail price say for a hard to find and really wanted peice but you do have set yourself a limit, what some go for on ebay etc imo gets a bit ridiculous ie the scots grey collapsing horse tonight for £122,its not a cheap hobby as it is.I used to collect a lot of different war theatres (figures,tanks etc) and diecast planes, as well as other collectables but it got a out of hand made a few £s selling many) but now just try to collect what i want and stick to it,unless i can get a few bargains. Theres so much to collect its easy for it to get out of hand and i was finding i had so many in their boxes that never came out or were likely to it seemed a bit pointless

I've occasionally paid over retail for pieces I absolutely had to have. However the limit I stick to is about $200 USD for one piece. My biggest dilemma recently was whether or not to buy the King Tiger, I'd love to have it but its so expensive I've passed to date and concentrated on other pieces. Maybe I'll come back to it. Some of the pieces at dealers and Ebay that go for well over $250 I will simply have to make due with a picture!

Perhaps but for me that would be a rare exception. I care very little of the scarcity of an item and am only interested in its appeal to me and how well it fits with what else I have or intend to get. Frankly, there are so many competing choices for me that are readily available at retail that I am happy to leave the rare to those interested in that aspect.
