what price would you pay (1 Viewer)

yes i'm with you on that all naps for me i always like to have my collection on display if theres an item that iv'e become bored with i'd rather sell it on to another collector than be put alway under the stairs, i find theres always some you never sell on and some you fall out of love with and i now only collect k&c and britains plus i have both full sets on display of the del prado range of napoleon at war ( lucky enough they dont make them no more :D)

Its K&C and First legion for me and even though i'm sticking to naps there still seems to be a never ending want/must have list and i just stick to the french and british ( at the moment) theres always another 1, 2, 3......you want or i need more of this/that one :)lol

I find this an interesting thread and I am always amazed at what some folks will pay for a 'rare' figure.
I suppose it is always a matter of personal perception as to what a figure is worth, and what drives some folks to part with their hard earned cash for that special piece.
It is so personal that I will often wonder why someone would even want some of the things they collect. I am sure that someone else would say that about my own assembly of this and that.
As a life time hobbyist myself, combined with full time work as a researcher/designer for over eighteen years you think I would have a better handle on this... but I really don't think I do yet.
I also think I may be at a disadvantage to some degree because sometimes I will look at a price tag and think to myself "if I want it that bad I will just go home and build it myself'.
And even at that, I know that every time I make something new, it is somehow better than the last effort and somehow the old piece doesn't have the same 'shine' to it anymore, thus little personal value to me. I can never win.

Ken:

Your comments are very interesting. I can't imagine what it must be like to be able to think......"I will just go home an build it myself". Having seen your work, and being lucky enough to have a few pieces....is really quite a gift.

I enjoyed watching you build a landscape and then paint the backdrop. It was certainly wonderful to see.

I plan on doing something similar, as soon as I learn how to breath underwater.:D

For most of us, it is simply impossible.:)
