I'm not surprised to be honest, and I don't think FIW will be forgotten by any means. But there is more to history than FIW...Whether you buy it or not...Sales are King I think. He'd get bored just doing FIW, and Planes/tanks etc mean using different factories etc..... I'm looking forward to more POA..But thats just me!!!

I also think he is bored by FIW but that is his bread and butter. He started off good with Monongahela,POA and Snowshoes actually releasing too much every month for some of us to keep up but his releases for St. Francis and especially Ticonderoga were more fragmented. Many are still waiting for combat poses for SF and French for Ticonderoga even though you can use the French of the other ranges for that. The people in this hobby are not exactly youngsters and would like to complete their ranges before they depart for the great hobby store in the sky.{eek3}^&grin

Maybe out there in left field, but how about the Elizabethan Irish period.

Just think of the diorama possibilities, Dublin Garrison of Pike and Shotte Companies and Cornets of Demi-Lancers march out of the Pale into the wilds of Ireland only to get cut up by Irish Kern and Gallowglass. The Irish version of Braddock's March.

cheers

Edward

Marco,
your image ‘before they depart for the great hobby store in the sky’ is amazing!

Concerning the bore in sculpting some kind of figures I think that in that part of the world would not too hard to find a skilled sculptor who, according to John’s instructions, factory commitments and in line with previous releases, could make headway some neglected collections. Other makers do not carve personally their figures and the result does not seem to me contemptible.
Our artist will free to devote his precious time to his favorite and more intricate sets.

I would LOVE Gandamak (with the flag tied around the Sergeant's chest) or ANY 1st Afghan War scene, especially a mountain pass ambush. I would also love Napoleonic era Indian conflicts, like Seringapatam and Assay.

I totally agree with this post.
I would also love to see John Jenkins produce Gandamak and other 1st Afghan war battles.

I believe a series based on the battle of Assay and the last siege of Seringapatam (the one in 1799 with Colonel Arthur Wellesley) would give John some wonderful scope with various regiments and uniforms and native costumes not previously covered by the major toy soldier producers.

The new Peninsular series is shaping up to be a classic so more of that as well.{sm3}

French Foreign Legion (FFL)and Mexican Army in Battle of Camaron. Or maybe, FFL in Algeria 1880's such as the Tuareg Revolt.

John had told me a long time ago that he was considering doing Trojans (Hoplites)...I think he said he had a couple on his bench and was seriously considering doing more...

I encouraged him to do them...but they never made the cut...then K&C started doing them...so now I don't think he would do them...but if he did...I could really get behind that...

from your list...the Roman Empire or the Crusades would be my next choices...but as Conte is doing the Romans...and K&C has such an extensive line of Crusaders...I don't think those are options...

if I could add one range to the list...it would be Vikings...Conte did a great job with them...but they are practically impossible to find now...

VIKINGS!!!!

yes...I could really get excited about that...

I'm not a fan of the mechanized wars...

I like crude weapons...swords...spears...axes...etc...

I could really get excited about Vikings...I think John could really do them justice...

The FIW category is a bit misleading because JJ is already firmly entrenched in this subject and has many followers. That 's a bit like putting 'more Knights of the Skies'. Its popular already.

Therefore I think the Boer War is doing rather well, this considered.

Exactly {bravo}}
The Last Stand at Gandamak would be great.
Konrad

Time Machine Miniatures does a set of this battle. I am going to paint mine here- should be a nice momento for me- and maybe i will pick up some dirt for the bases... Neat subject, and would look great as a set!

Its about time one of the manufacturers put out an English Civil War range. I'm a fan of JJ's Jacobite figures and I reckon they would do a great job with this era. Plus, nobody else is doing it so they'd have all of the market for anyone interested in this period.

This would be a pretty unique series to do and it would be extremely colorful. I could get behind this. -- Al

Superb suggestion. Very interested in the English Civil War myself, would certainly support it! I do have a small collection of 39 figures from the Heritage Miniatures English Civil War range. ( Still available, I think........)

I would also really like to see a Battle of Hastings range. A quite neglected period ( Conte have touched on it of course.... ) but I'd still like to see John do it!

If you are interested, Regal Toy Soldiers/Soldiers of the World does a 1066:Norman and Saxons series. They are quite nice and I think available in gloss or matte. -- Al

Many thanks Al - I'll check them out!

Cheers, Roy.

How about a line of American gangsters circa 1920's-30's? You could have scenes with Capone, Dillinger, Bonnie & Clyde. Good stuff.

Thinking outside military figures how about a line of Explorers,Columbus,Magellan,Balboa,De Soto,Drake,LaSalle,Champlain,Lewis & Clark, the list is endless.

My first preference would be Vikings but I would be sorely tempted by an Indian Mutiny range.
