This also led me to think about something else as well.

I know this discussion has occurred many times when it comes down to how the lines compare with each other, but what about inside each line? What do you think sells better in each line K&C produces? The winners or losers?

My guess for the WWII line would be the losers (Germans) sell more. I believe I have seen that posted here by Shannon or Pete.

In the Napoleonic line, I would guess French figures sell more. That may answer my question I just posted about there being more French compared to British figures. Maybe that is why K&C produces more of these.

My guess for the Crusades would be the Crusaders sell more. The Saracens actually look better in my opinion.

I guess in the American Revolutionary line, the Americans would sell more.

Since K&C hasn’t produced any Federal soldiers in the ACW line and any Allies in the WWI series, this is left to be seen.

It just seems to me that maybe on average the losing side sells more units than the winners.

What do you guys think?

You are probably mostly right that on the average the losing sides sell better than the winners, but I not sure that being a winner vs. a loser really factors into the buying decision. The Japanese lost WWII and they do not sell as well as the other sets. For the Rough Rider series, the US Rough Riders out sold the Mexicans.

I think it is how interesting the figures and vehicles are from that country during that era. For the WWII, the Germans made a wide variety of unique vehicles that display well. Their uniforms looked much better than the generic US 'one size fits all' or the plain brown Japanese uniforms.

For Napoleon and AWI, I am willing to guess the highlanders and British infantry are top sellers. My AWI and Napoleonic collection is very loopsided favoring British forces becuase I like their uniforms better.

Also, you have to factor in how people are interested in that country or that war. I am willing to bet the Alamo series sells better in Texas compared to the rest of the World while the Charge of the Light Brigade series sold best in GB.

I agree with you on the Saracens, they are great figures. You said, "I guess in the American Revolutionary line, the Americans would sell more." Didn't the US win that one?

Yes. That is why I said I thought on average the losing side sells more in the K&C lines. I could be wrong of course since I am not a dealer and don't have access to sales information.

You bring up some very good points. What I am not saying is that because a side lost, they therefore sell more units. Of course there are many reasons to why some sell more than others. It just appears to me that the losing side in some of these lines do sell more than the historical winner.

Losers without a doubt. I wouldn't really factor Rough Riders in the equation because they were made for Kings X, not widely distributed and part of today's selling environment. Japanese are the exception.

I would think that the uniforms have alot to play in the decision and weapons they used. Look at the vehicles and you can see that the German Armor is really interesting - Winter Tiger - but, the Char 09 - sold out quick too!

Interest in the types of vehicles and armor - has alot to do with the support troops as well. So the question probally has alot of answers.

Imo it depends more on how colorful the uniforms and vehicles are rather than on what side they were on.

On the other hand, the Confederate Civil War uniforms are nothing to brag about...these guys spent more time barefoot than in full dress.

K&C started with the South for a reason - it sells!

There are no winners in war - only losers.

Really, you don't say. Are you just taking poetic license or do you really mean that? Some wars are like that, most aren't.

Tell me you're just not saying that to see if someone will take that bait are you?

A trendy light grey beats navy blue anyday ;)

:confused:Pierre!?! Did K&C make a UFO? Is there a Roswell or Area 51 series I missed? Tell me it aint true???
O.C.

O.C.-

No Roswell or Area series. You missed nothing. You simply confused unidentified flying object with unbelievable flying object. My mistake. I should had write IFO (improbable flying object).

Best regards,
Pierre.
