Just a thread to get First Legion fans and collectors typing ;)
What specific unit or personality would you want to own from First Legion ?
For me I can think of Hundreds but just to get the ball rolling .
Personality ... Blücher
Unit..............SS Division Wiking  I know a shocker for someone who is a Naps Fanatic and the fact that German WWII have been done to death but I am really interested to see what First Legion can do with a Waffen SS unit the many different Camo patterns of the Waffen SS are just begging for the First Legion treatment . The Waffen SS were pioneers in the use of Camo IMO the best Camo uniforms in WWII. The Wiking unit maybe for a little International flavor and the Battles of Kharkov and Kursk could also be interesting ;) .

Casesar's 10th Legion or the 14th.

Mounted Casesar or Marcus Antonius mounted

An aquilifer in a fighting pose- particularly driving the eagle into some hapless gaul would be a great vignette

What?? You didn't specifiy it had to be a current line?? :):p

Interesting question Gebhard. I would have expected you to list a Prussian Nap unit, so the Waffen-SS thing is a little suprising.;)

My specific unit and personality would be from the AWI, specifially, Lt. Col.
John Eager Howard and the 1st Maryland Regiment. Howard fought through almost the entire duration of the war and was very highly regarded as a regimental officer. He was known The 1st Maryland, in its different variations, was one of the longest serving and most experienced units. By the time of Greene's southern campaign, they were seen as some of the best the Continental Army had to offer. Thier blue faced red uniforms would not be new to the toy soldier world, but that at least they would be fairly universal for a late war impression.

And I would like to see a Col. Otho Holland Williams as well, if First Legion was into mounted personality figures.

:p:eek:;):D What were you expecting afterall? Now of course it probably needs to be less than obvious but I am sure you all get my drift.:D

Abraham Lincoln, which Matt had said he would do eventually but it may be several years :(

For ACW I'd like to see the 14th Brooklynn. A hard fighting unit w/ very colorful uniforms, especially for the Civil War. They were part of the 1st Corp, Army of the Potomac and were engaged in battle on the first day of Gettysburg, fitting nicely into the focus of the series as it is at this point.

Here's an image of a Keith Rocco painting portraying soldiers of this regiment.

Defenitely a mounted Blucher with the
Landwehr Infantry 4th Silesian Regiment
very catchy uniforms
That would be AWSOME ,right Gebhard

A very nice and apt choice indeed, as stated fits in brilliantly with the first day of the battle. Thanks for posting, here hoping some Iron Brigade lads will also join the Brooklyn boys…cheers, Alby

This is Great and it sure doesn't have to be an existing line it can be anything you want ...
Some Great picks the 10th Legion Aquilifer, w/Bull Emblem by Aeroart although not in an action pose is one of my favorite figures . I think we are both hoping for the same thing ;) I have been pleading the case to Mr Matt in hopes of a line revolving around the battle of Alesia check out this link http://www.alesia.com/ (let is run for a minute it has a short little CGI video) I've been thinking of visiting the site in September I went to the site of the Varusschlacht in Osnabrück last year :) It was Great that would be my second choice for a Battle to cover .. I can just imagine what first legion could do with either of these Battles ..:eek: Great picks . Regards Gebhard

Thanks Gebhard

Alesia is no doubt what most manufacturers go for imo. The St. Pete aquilifer that I really dig is the one from the 14th Legion- that one is in action.

Will have to wait and see!! :)

Is that from a comic book he looks like a super hero .. all he needs is a cape and a union jack on his chest :D. I was hoping he was gonna get it in the Waterloo episode with his little buddies  and that fat Irishman too :D......................... Calm down Mate only joking ;) Best Regards Gebhard

Ya that's also a very nice figure I don't own that one yet , only trouble with that pose is they don't make a figure on the receiving end of his action ... I really hope that one of the two new lines coming this year from First Legion will be a Roman one :) as you can tell I'm really a big fan of what First Legion have done for the Hobby  and IMO they would do such a Fantastic job . Like you say we will just have to wait and see . Regards Gebhard

Since we are sharing pics.....

This would be the only Napoleonic figure I would ever buy, though I imagine there might be some copyright issues :p:p

No doubt I think FL could do Eddie justice

AMEN BROTHER ;)
The 4th works for me as well as the 1st 2nd or 3rd :D:D as part of GdI Friedrich Wilhelm Graf von Dennewitz Bülow's IV Army Corps at Waterloo who Captured Plancenoit how can Mr Matt say no  I would love to see some Landwehr troops in close fighting poses with some Axe work going on . As for Blücher well that goes without saying :D Regards Gebhard

Hi Noah ,
Very informative post , although I'm not collecting the AWI line and I know nothing about it , It's cool to see your enthusiasm . I hope you get your wishes , I do live in Maryland could you tell me what kind of Flag they would have carried . Thank Gebhard

I fully agree Alby, FL can't do the first day of Gettysburg properly without those Black Hats.

Here's an image of one of my paintings portraying a soldier of the 2nd Wisconsin. - Ken

Ken,

You have significant talent, thanks for sharing.

I thought you may be partial to the Black Hats, given your Wisconsin address. I am sure Matt & his team will really do this right and it is just about being a little patient! Can’t wait though, I have just started collecting ACW and only have a few of the NC lads, although more are inbound.

This will be a fantastic series. Regards, Alby

1st MN - July 2, 1863. 26th NC vs the Iron Brigade on July 1

This would be on my list too.

Also, Bill, this Sharpe illustration reminds me of Andrea's Sharpe and I was thinking of having a go at him eventually. Here is an image of him for comparison....
