Hello,

I purchased a metal 54mm Valiant Arab Legionnaire to paint. I have a black Krylon spray primer and Mr Surface 1200. Should I prime the figure with either one of these products or should I use something else?

Thanks
Benjamin

I used Mr surfacer 1000 the other day on an old 54mm figure I have been working on. It leaves a nice snooth painting surface. I suspect 1200 will leave an even finer finish. Just make sure you clean up any casting marks on the figure, fill in any gaps and give it a good wash before you prime.

Not familiar with black krylon spray primer, so won't comment. Personally I prefer a light coloured primer rather than black as I can see details better. Having said that there are plenty of figure painters who use black primer and get good results. Most of the wargamers go for black primer.

Tamiya make a good fine primer as well.

Hope that helps.

Hi,
It does help! Thanks very much for the information.
Best wishes,
Benjamin
