What Wars/ Time periods are missing?? (1 Viewer)

I would like to see the Franco - Prussian War represented by a manufacturer.

Trojan War. It has everything and like the John Jenkins French Indian sets - I think collector interest would build as sets were released and collectors became educated about the personalities and battle. If the figures were limited to the same extent as JJ sets it could make a popular line. Sounds perfect for KC UK to consider. Are you out there Tony?

Trojan War gets my vote too.
Cheers

I get the feeling you like Barzso. do you collect any others? Pictures????

Yep - I do like Barzso.. Other than that I mainly collect vintage Marx and other vintage odds and ends. I do have the new TSSD cavalry - which are awesome. If I had limitless funds there are certainly misc. metal items that I would like to collect, but I had to make a choice...So Marx and Barzso it is.

Having said that I do enjoy the various aspects of the hobby in general and try to keep up with what's going on in both the plastic and metal world.. Forums like this help to make that possible.

I grew up on plastic Marx and some Britains. And of course the nameless hordes of green army men. So Nice to meet you. Welcome aboard if I haven't said so already.

You got me to thinking KV!

I wondered if all those green armymen were all gathered together, how big would the pile be ? 100 feet tall...1000 ?

Or better yet, what about a monument to the nameless green armyman. Something like those cheesy tourist atractions that dot the landscape of rural America. Like the worlds biggest cow in Beulah North Dakota. You can see it from the highway a good 5 miles away. A concrete monstrosity, that must be 100 feet tall.

A 500 foot tall green plastic armyman would be nice. Maybe made of actual green armymen remelted over a iron rebar frame. A frenchman gave the US the Statue of Liberty. Maybe we could give this to somebody. But we would have to vote on the pose...old or new Timmee ? I think the guy with M16 & fixed bayonet overhead is the shape that I remember most. But I always wondered if that was a artificial bayonet attack thrust made up by the sculptor, or is he shooting his gun blind over a wall at Hue ? Perhaps the artist is still alive ? I remember when they came out. 100 figures for a $1, I think. But it was the 60's and pretty soon they only made them in 'dayglow' colors. I actually found a few of those at a flea market a while back and got them out of that hellhole & they are back doing good service in the trenches in the dirt alongside the house. Somewhat risky with the firecrackers, but that is what they were made for.

But back to topic, it often occurs that an army is made without opponents. I always missed having the various Barbarian tribes to square off against the Romans, like Alemmani, Parthians or Cherusci. You also rarely see medieval eastern armies, like Saracens or Persians. The one exception I remember being the Britains Deetail Turks.

St. Pete does some exceptional figures in those ranges- of course, you gotta have pretty deep pockets to do moderately sized dio of those.

Thx Kilted... I've actually been a member of the forum for awhile, but really don't post a lot. Since most of the discussion centers around metal figures - I can't say a lot as, like I said, I collect plastic.

I don't collect metal either and would enjoy more more plastic discussions but interesting subjects are sometimes hard to come up with for some reason. I think it is often just a matter of tossing them out there. Eventually you hit on something. But I did get an idea

The wooden warrior guy was doing a lot of stuff. I see mixed sets of plastic WWII guys cast in different colors at stores like Rite Aid. I was feeling pretty lonely in the casting section for a while. I have a lot of interests. That is why you find me everywhere. Point is, the plastic section is what you make it.:)
