I am a fan of pretty much everthing to do with toy soldiers. I do however have a particular soft spot for plastics though. Here's my guide to what I think is good about them:

all plastic but 2 metal kits. plastic, about $8.00 worth, before painting.

Great paint job. Along with Napoleonic Scots Highlanders I think Gauls/Celts are among the most testing subjects to paint well.

The Hat horses look realy good they look as good as Italeri

Rob, The horses are TSSD and Italeri. I ground off the saddles and made new ones with putty.

Being new to the Hobby, I found your article quite interesting and enjoyable. I prefer plastic to metal myself for two simple reasons. The first is cost. The second is that I prefer to paint my own figures. I have bought some pre-painted metal figures but they are in no way as dear to me as the ones I have painted myself. I have some unpainted metal figures that will be arriving soon and am anxious to try my hand at painting them. I do like the weight of metal figures and liked the idea of applying coins to the bottom of the bases of the plastics. Thank you for sharing your views.

Blush that explains why they look good Harold you got me on that one and i thought i could spot any plastics a mile off

Captain old Buddy washers might be better then coin cheaper too

To be Honest I planned on using washers. I just didnt want to appear to be the Hillybilly that I really am!
