Well I am not sure if this has been posted before so here goes.

Some of the members name are a dead giveaway, some not so much. How did you arrive at your forum name and what does it mean?

Most people assume mine means I was a farmer when I lived in the UK. That couldn't be further from the truth.

I chose mine as I am a Britains collector (farm items at the time). Britainsfarmer or Britainscollector didn't exactly roll off the tongue, so I kept playing about until I arrived at thebritfarmer or TBF :D

Different form of my name and year of my birth.
Mark

I had an old fan in my attic dated 1879. I chose the combination so no one would know what period toy soldiers I collect. Mike

I always view my place of work as MY PLACE ! :p
I have been meaning to ask why is Capitol spelt with an "o" not an "a". When they say Capitol Hill on the news what exactly are they referring to? Is it the US Congress. And finally what is the difference between Congress and the Senate. Is it like the House of Commons and House of Lords.

Damian

I think i can claim without fear of contradiction that i used the least imagination in coming up with my forum name!:D;)

Nickname given to me at work, some 20 years ago, to describe my appearance when I rolled in for the early (6am) shift. Took a huge amount of caffeine and nicotine + 4 hours to resemble anything human like.
I'm not a morning person.

From the British 70's war comic Battle Picture Weekly there was a character called Major Eazy :)
He was the top man in the LRDG and was a cross between James Coburn and Clint Eastwood. He drove around the desert in a Bentley with an Arab sidekick called Tewfik.

Rob i would be so there for that. I bought a batch off ebay a few years ago, and though they aren't in the best condition they contain just about the best war comics ever.

Hey James,i just looked it up on Amazon. Its called 'The Best of Battle Vol 1'and its being released on the 24th October.Might get it myself!

Rob

I just looked it up too. 300 pages! It looks awesome. I dunno how you missed out on this back in the day Rob. great charcters like Johnny Red, Panzer G-Man and the incredible Darkie's Mob. they reprinted Darkie's Mob in a Judge Dredd comic a couple years back but apparently they had to cut out some of the name calling towards the Japanese and maybe some of the violence.
I vividly remember one scene where the Japanese enter a hospital ward and butcher the patients and another where the Japs capture Darkie, nail him through the hands to a tin roof and leave him to die in the sun ( don't worry he escapes!)
Thinking back comics were very different back in the late 70's!

I think i probably missed it as i was really into Commando, War and Battle picture libary and ye olde pocket money only went so far!.Funny you say that about the Japenese Hospital scene,i watched an episode of a documentary called Horror in the East in which British and Australian survivors described how the Japenese troops entered a ward they were in and bayonetted Patients,Nurses and Doctors alike. So it wasn't really fiction in the comic at all!

What was the comic in which one story was called 'Union Jack Jackson' about the Brit who somehow ended up in the US Marines,i got that comic pretty often.

Me'n'Missus H kicked around with several ideas for possible forum handles. We couldn't make up our minds, so in time-honoured fashion we stuck all the name in a hat. By a simply amazing coincidence, she pulled out "Harrytheheid", which just happens to have been my nickname since my early twenties when I was howling around the mean streets of Abedeen on a Yamaha 1100S with dropped handlebars and an extremely loud 4 into 1 exhaust.
Just fancy that...???

Union Jack Jackson was in "Warlord". (He had a british flag on his helmet to distinguish him from the the US troops)

I used to get that and "Victor" too. good comics but they didn't push the boundaries like "Battle".

Y'know i really think you should change your forum name to "Union jack Jackson" how cool would that be?

Harrytheheid is a good name too. It seems very apt somehow!

Why thank you for the kind compliment James. :):);)

howling around the mean streets of Abedeen on a Yamaha 1100S with dropped handlebars and an extremely loud 4 into 1 exhaust - scaring old ladies - and drawing admiring glances and squeals of delight from the more nubile younger ones
....:eek::eek:....:cool::cool:....:D
