Lions, Howitzers, and SS, oh my...

Hey Guys,

Been a little while since we've seen any sneak peeks of upcoming TG pieces. Let's talk about what we already know and may be able to speculate.

Ancient Rome: We know that a couple lions are in the works with at least one cage, and new updated Legionnaires Repelling Cavalry.

WWII: Panzer IV with zimmerit, sitting, drinking, and radio winter SS, and a GMC Truck with variants.

Korea/Indochina: an impressive 155mm Howitzer with crew for both themes plus WWII variant, as well as add-on figures.

What Else?

I would not be surprised if we see new WWII Germans including SS and Heer variants later in the year as these seem to be a TG main stay. Indochina is strong and well with opportunities for more action "camoed" figures and Viet Minh. Some new WWII US Airborne to compliment the GMC Truck would be most welcome. A short while ago, TG also started a small new theme, Myths & Legends. Would love to see a few mythical beasties of the Greek variety added to the theme.

I've found that TG is always open to ideas and feedback from the community. What are you interested in seeing? Did I miss anything? Share your thoughts.

For the Dads out there, a big Happy Fathers Day as well. Lets have a great weekend out there!
Now I'm off to have take a few picture to be posted later today...

Great post, Rob!

I'm a huge aircraft fan and TG has let on there are some fabulous examples coming very soon. For one, I'm hoping to get my hands on an Italian Piaggio P-108 4 engine bomber. A very unique aircraft that actually rivaled the Boeing B-17, but engine problems continually plagued the P-108. In addition, there were only a small number made of P-108's made and their contribution to the war effort was minimal.

Yes Rob TG certainly does have a few interesting future releases in the pipeline, some of which I have an interest in seeing more than others, but that's more to do with collecting preferences. I'm certainly looking forward to seeing more added to the French Indochina line.
I would say that though the poses of the Viet Minh were outstanding TG do need to rein in somewhat on the figure sizes as yes while it was noted in the later Vietnam war that some NVA soldiers from North Vietnam were of a similar size to US troops, the majority weren't and TG's Viet Minh should reflect that. I only say that in trying to give honest feedback as it would effect my future purchases.
The 155 MM Howitzer and Crew, again I look forward to seeing that being released, though I do hope to see more accuracy portrayed in equipment being worn by future FFL Paras etc, yes sometimes I'm quite fussy !
The Roman Empire range certainly is expanding from the usual Legionaries in Battle or Parade poses to less tread themes and look forward to seeing where that goes.
Mythology themes encompasses such a wide area that there certainly are many opportunities to appeal to collectors there.
Looking forward perhaps to them producing sets that used together little vignettes as they already have with the Caesar / Marc Antony and Cleopatra figure sets.
Assuming TG have ideas for producing a Minotaur and Theseus combat set, TG could consider one of Theseus entering the Labyrinth with Ariadne paying out her thread.
Perhaps they could even keep their clothes on ! :wink2::tongue::tongue:

I agree, the new Viet Minh are too large. They must be on their basketball team. I think their legs are too big.

TG has mentioned / promised some Newcastle mounted Rifles from the Zulu War. I am a huge collector of this conflict and it has been very overdone in terms of 24th foot but so underdone in the less represented regular units and the NNC. Eg Durnfords command at Isanndlawana had half a dozen different units.
I would love more Praetorians in fighting poses and would also love to see more Boers and some Aussie Boer Units, preferably mounted.

A great topic, thank you.

An expansion in the Boer War range would be nice alongside more French Indochina combatants for both sides.

Cheers,
Grey

I'd also love to see some Aussie Boer Units, Mounted and Unmounted, Breaker Morant etc would make an interesting addition.

They said they are going to add to the classic FFL figures that they restarted.

I'd certainly like to see the first two topics that you've listed. I guess time will tell.

Would love to see TG dip their toes into the Falkland Islands.

A small set of Royal Marines from Naval Party 8901 who faced the Argentine landings possibly?

Sort of start off where it all started off..................
