Hey Guys,

Was watching Christmas movies with the Mrs. last night trying to get into the holiday spirit and thought I'd start a fun topic relating to the holiday season.
Something that I'm always thankful for is the fun that our hobby brings, esp. when you get to add a new piece to an existing diorama or perhaps even starting a new unexplored theme.

Planning to purchase something BIG?
or something that you've been saving for throughout the year?

Another week will see K&C's releases for December assuming that's what Andy is planning of course.
I'm hoping to see some more Roman civilians being released that might make it in time for Christmas.

Other than that, I have some figures on order from JJD, Gladiators and an Auxiliary.
No big buys in the pipeline for me though at moment.

what about yourself Rob, tell us what you're hoping will either to be released in time for Christmas to add to your collection or what has already been released and you're hoping for, one way or another !

Interesting thread and yes this is the one time in the year when you can justify adding to your collection. The Falkland Scimitar could be under the tree this year, but there are lots of brilliant pieces available from the range of manufacturers in our hobby. Whatever I hope everyone has something to look forward to and they have a wonderful Christmas. Robin.

This would make my Christmas merry . . . K&C VN159-2 "Mad Dogs" Patton Tank
Certainly a nice one, Mike. If I didn't already have a bit invested with TCS's 'Nam collection, would love to add the K&C Patton to my collection. I recall building a model of this as a kid.

Still in Roman, mode, Steve? Great theme. I was into TG's Romans for some time but got back into WWII. Pursuing multiple themes across different brands can get pretty pricey.

In terms of my "wishlist", definitely some of K&C's new BBA pieces once availabale. I understand TG will be releasing more Gebirgsjager but may be into the new year by the time we see them. I'm also admiring K&C's Rommel staff car. The new Landing Craft is an awesome piece but beyond my price range at this time and I have the previous version (although smaller). We certainly have some variety this holiday season.

Looking forward to adding a few under the tree (or nearby on the Coffee Table Battlefield). 😃

Nice thoughts Robin, you too.

What's most enjoyable is having friends and family to enjoy the holidays with.

I grabbed #731 DAK Tiger to go with #813

Great shot. What's the code/maker for the little girl with the flag?

Will see what Santa has for sale at the London show. Would like some Battle of the Bulge figures, JJD Jacobites and Saxons/Vikings.

Willl also see sANDY Clause has for new release from K & C and hopefully some new Germans and a vehicle/AFV

Hi everyone,

I hope this reply finds you well and you are starting to be full of festive spirit! I am excited about our upcoming holiday plans. I'll be off for a much-needed break for six and a half weeks starting from Thursday, the 18th of December. Yippee!

Before Christmas, we have a few delightful activities planned. One of the highlights is a special treat for my 85-year-old dad – we'll be enjoying some hospitality at the local football club before the pre-festive soccer game. We're also taking our granddaughter to see The Nutcracker ballet in London, which should be a magical experience.

Christmas Day will be spent with my parents and the wider family, enjoying a lovely lunch together. Then, on Boxing Day, my wife and I are jetting off to Singapore, New Zealand, and Vietnam. I am particularly excited about visiting our house in New Zealand, checking on the storage of 12,000 toy soldiers and leaving an English winter behind for a while.

Speaking of toy soldiers, I've been busy with a few Christmas treats for myself. I have a full load of all the JJD December figures on order, and the K&C battering ram and large landing craft are currently in customs in the UK – they should arrive next week. I've also ordered some Warrior Caste WW2 Finnish and Russian figures from the Winter War, and from Australia, the long-retired K&C jousting knights and JJD Napoleonic French horse-drawn ambulance are being shipped. Julie at TF has the new Team Miniatures knights and a few other bits and bobs to send me, so I'm quite well set. I might just go for the Normandy Rommel staff car before the sale closes and keep an eye out for any tempting K&C December releases.

I know it's a lot, but once I retire, my purchases will slow down considerably. In the meantime, I have just three weeks of work left and I'm finalising an article for Toy Soldier Collector Magazine. For those who get the magazine, I hope you enjoyed the 'Best of the Best' article in the December issue.

Happy holidays to you all, and I hope Santa brings you some toy soldier-related goodies!

Gary

For the BHD Series:

A technical;
A Ranger M-60 gunner;
More Delta Force figures;
Multiple dead Somalis;
A Blackhawk.
Can definitely tell that you like this theme, Jason. Solid list.

Nice, love the Tigers, esp. AK. I have the old Tunisian version. It's a highlight in my collection.
Thanks, the little girl is from two-figure set DD289, A Taste of Real Chocolate (101st Airborne set).

Definitely looking forward to seeing what the New Year will bring. Always a pleasant surprise.

Hi Gary, your post is like reading an enjoyable globetrotting holiday story. Wow! Lots planned. Safe travels. I have to check out that magazine.
Happy Holidays to you as well.

Have a great trip Gary, on getting away from the English winter weather, i am jealous, it has been wet and raining for so long i think i either have trench feet or webbed feet.

Where will the retirement be? New Zealand?

Enjoy your retirement, not sure how much less you will buy, you know you are now part of cult, TS are like drugs. New Zealand, hear it is a lot better since they have sorted out their Orc problem

I am hoping to get some Sword Beach figures and maybe another landing craft for a future diorama.

For my part, I ordered the set of three Egyptian javelinmen, the last Hittite chariot, the 18th-century civilian and his horse (the first figure in a superb series) which I'll mix with the "fur trade" trappers, and the black scout from "Tonnerre des Plaines"—all from JJD, of course!
My Battle of Qadesh includes three Hittite chariots, three Egyptian chariots (including Pharaoh's), and one Lycian chariot. The Nubian, Libyan, and Syrian archers, the Lycian and Shardana infantry, and the Egyptian archers currently make up this historical battle... I'm also adding the Amazon cavalry, which I also own...

Couldn't resist ordering the Rommel Normandy staff car, Sharpe, some Roman and English Civil War sets while sale still on at K&C. Also a Black Friday sale of Osprey books.

Loving Michael's Vietnam diorama, considering a project in 2026.

Gary

Just placed an order for a few sets of the new BR figures and some 95th Rifles….took advantage of the $30 discount and fingers crossed they’ll sneak through customs into the UK without any additional tax/handling charge.
I’ll wrap them up for Christmas!
