Joey, in two or three years' time I'm sure that you'll extol the virtues of Duvel. And the Belgian wheat beers? Fantastic. But how on earth did that awful Stella Artois become the standard export beer?
Don't ask me. You could say the same of the Dutch. Don't tell me you like Heiniken, do you?
We have some fine beers over here. And of course, I regularly drink a pint ( drinking is allowed when you're sixteen: that goes for beer and wine), so I drink some of those 'national treasures' now and then. And yes, Stella is awful. But I think the low cost of the beer might be one of the causes for its popularity. We should be proud of our "trappist beers"(I don't know how to say that in English) instead: richly flavoured, nice taste, etc.
But generally, it's still coca-cola for me. (I can't help it that I'm a child of the global age ...)
Blimey - this really took off! Ok if we are doing beer - Shepherds Neame from Faversham in Kent brews some of the the best real British beer - Spitfire, Bishops Finger etc - but best draft not bottled.
Come over to Beltring Hop Fields in July and see the biggest collection of working miliutary vehicles and armour from all over the world? And drink draft Shepherds Neame all in the beautiful Kent countryside.
As for red wine, you can't beat a good Australian Shiraz, oak blackcurrant and afters that lasts for hours (would I make a wine buff coming out with rubbish like this?)
When I was younger I drank enough to float a Battleship. Kinda just weaned off after kidz came along.I had a few beers at OTSN since I wasnt going anywhere. The first 2-4 tasted pretty good after so long , I had kinda forgot.Next 12 were just okay. The last 6 I didnt like at all.
Lets see, when I do drink which is seldom I like Crown Royal, straight with a COKE chaser.Fire for effect.
Usually it's just a coke which I do like too much especially in the Summer. An Ice cold coke is hard to beat.
