Not heard much about this, am in the middle of moving stuff up the loft so what's the story on the new MG suff Andy? :D

I always believe actions speak louder than words when it comes to Toy Soldiers.

So - NO NEW RELEASES - means - LINE IS BEING RETIRED. ;)

I would imagine they will be comming soon. I believe the last release was in the early spring last year

Quite right, it was in April last year we got some Arnhem releases.

Thought Andy said it would be British armour coming this year for Market Garden , would be great if we get both:cool:

Well, lets hope the focus remains on the para's and the many sets that have yet to be done and not address XXX corps. Sorry Arnhem mate but, we need to see scooters and the like more support troops, ambulance jeeps, Frost still can't believe he is not out yet and, more fighting posed para's also would like to see para supply cannisters with troops.

This is one range where a bit of FL type focus, paying proper attention to the brit troops and poles at Arnhem, needs, IMO to be done before addressing units which never made it to arnhem.

I think your spot on Mitch about needing more paras but this is what Andy said
Hi Guys,

In answer to “UK Sub’s” question… probably not until 2011… and it may well be XXX Corps!!!

Best wishes and happy collecting!
Andy

uksubs..

missed that IMO not the best news for the range just yet. I know the first range was a mixed release but, for me, XXX corps can come later with the focus on the fighting units, though, that seems unlikely with that comment Mitch

Make you wonder if mk is a good seller? Lot of sets have been on sell on eBay last year

When it was released I thought it would be huge with more sets than what has been released and quite a bit has been discontinued so, its an interesting question. Normally things seem to hang around a while when they are sellers but, the jeep with trailer went quite quick followed by a raft of fighting figures. You may be right and why the move to XXX corps may be on the cards

Think we need to fill Rob up with beer at the next London show so he will spill the beans

Hoogri...

Yeah!! get rid of the Naps and enter the Eastern front. Good call
Mitch

Rob...

I am never dissapointed in the releases that come each year its just my opinion that it will be detrimental to the series should we move away from the important troops the airborne to soon. Now, that may not be Andy's decision and this may be pie in the sky but, XXX was not exactly littered with variancy in its AFV's I just think the range needs more action orienated troops and Frost to keep its vibrancy.

Might just be me but, when I hear the name arnhem or market garden I think 6 airborne first and all the rest a second
Mitch

Mitch, this is the sort of thing you mentioned in your earlier post

Rob...

Exactly, thanks for the pics. 17ILB guns towed by bren gun carriers, bikes etc are all things that make you think wow the possibilities for this range are awesome. I was not saying there was anything wrong with the range just that I would think its a bit premature to be addressing XXX corps when the range really, has just about reached the bridge and is digging in for the fight ahead. I like the story line and the development of the range in that story as much as the figures

Would like to take this opportunity to resurrect, for consideration, some possible future “Market Garden” series sets from a candidate list I posted before the “last drop”.

Paratrooper just landed, pulling in his chute
Opening a CLE Container or Wicker Pannier
75mm M1A1 Pack Howitzer with crew (Again already done in Arnhem ’44 Series AN 004), but using the correct scale pack howitzer from the Battle of the Bulge set BBA09
Firing 2in MK VIII Mortar
Throwing a No.82 (Gammon Bomb) grenade
Airborne Trolley with Crew (2)

If personality figures are a possible consideration:
LCOL John Frost, CO, 2 Para Bn (Already done as Arnhem ’44 Series (AN014)
Major Dickie Lonsdale, Lonsdale Force
Lt Jack Greyburn, VC
Maj Robert H. Cain, VC
LSgt J.D. Baskeyfield, VC
Capt Lionel E. Queripel, VC
Mrs Kate ter Horst
War Correspondent Stanley Maxted reporting to BBC (Classic photograph with recording equipment)

I have also seen mentioned elsewhere in this forum someone's wish for a 17 Pounder Anti-Tank Gun. It would be a major endeavor from the standpoint of research, complexity, size, and resultant cost both in development and final retail price. If any remaining copyrights could be favorably resolved a significant R&D cost savings could be realized by using the AIRFIX 1:32 scale, highly detailed plastic model of the gun (0-6361-0). It was produced in 1980 with a crew of six gunners and rounds of ammunition . It is a magnificent model and retailed for 3 Pds!!

Arnhemjim...

Have to say, some good suggestions and some remarkable men you mention for future ''personality'' figures and, one of the reasons why I made the point about staying with the troops on the ground at and near arnhem.

Looking at the price of the recent flak 41 and other similar type guns across the hobby I don't see size being any worry or consideration for the 17ILB gun nor, do I see cost being prohibitive as the recent flak gun has went quickly at £200.

Roll on April if thats the arnhem month??

I have the Airfix 17 Pounder Anti-Tank Gun but can't see why it would be a problem making it in 1/30 when K&C made 88mm flak gun  Take a look at Figarti new 88mm gun and look at the detail on that
