This is definitely a Russian warrior, perhaps a noble. I would place him at the the Battle of Kulikovo in 1380 where the united army of Russian territories defeated the Mongol-Tatars. Hope this helps.
That was the battle of "lake Peious"( today half in Estonia, half in russia), when on 1242 the teutonic knights lost against the russian prince Alexander Nevski. The germen-danish knights attacked on the iced lake and defeated the russian infantry. Then the russian cavalry counter attacked, and at that moment the ice broke under the heavy teutonic cavalry and many of them drowened in the iced water. The great master survied and retreated with some knights. This battle stopped the german invasion towards Russia and was the farther point the teutonic order reached to the east.
