With the King & Country addicts going full tilt, I'm quite surprised that we haven't heard more from the Britains folk! Are you just a silent majority ;)

Remember, the people at Britains (RC2, Racing Champions - you know who I'm talking about) are keeping an eye on this forum, so it's a good chance to discuss things and have your voice heard! What have you liked the most about the newer figures? What would you like to see? What questions might you have?

Be proud to be a Britains collector!

Hello,

I collect both Britains and K&C figures from the American Revolution. The problem with Britains is that the quality of their figures is inconsistent, in contrast, K&C figures are always very well painted.

For example, Britains set of Morgan's riflemen and the Saratoga sets are excellent. The French 18th Gratinois Regiment by Britains is horrible and not worth collecting no matter how much they are discounted. For some reason this particular set looks like the figures are made of porcelain. The Iroquis set also is poor in comparision to the Native Americans offerred by K&C and Frontline Figures.

The new Britains sets seem very good, especially the Cowpens series. I will buy these. Basically, Britains needs to produce a better product if they want collectors to purchase their products. For example, I will buy Frontline French and Indian war sets before I purchase more of Britains AWI sets.

Hi There,

I have been a Britains collector for many years and will continue to do so for the forseeable future. They have a great variety and for me the prices are still decent, even on Ebay, so a new collector dosent have to mortgage the house to break in to this hobby. I would like to see more British Colonial Forces released especially the Gurkhas and the mounted forces from India and Africa. Also wouldnt mind seeing a Japanese tank or tankette from the either the Bruma or Chinese Campaigns. I know that King and Country seems to have a lock on this area but I would really like to see Britains do something along the line.

Hi Everyone,I also collect britians and will continue to do so,Their Tanks are just fine, having recently bought 5 from Treefrog..(nice mob there)!!..AND wait fo their new releases...ern..

Britain's WWl guns in traditional style are made well. I would like to see Britains make more gun sets like Gatling-Norfelt and maxim machine guns with Highlanders and Naval landing parties from 1880's in Egypt and Sudan. Other then one Imperial Gatling gun set there is not many choices around. Trophy hard to get and new steadfast guns do not have the quality of their older sets. Leadmen

At the moment I'm collecting both Britains and K&C ( WWII ). But with Britains I'm never too sure if they want to make their figures more realistic ( what I prefer ) or more traditional, toy like. This because of the figures' faces: I believe K&C are a step ahead in that particular, at least for my taste. This ( alone... ) won't stop me from buying their Big Red One sets and some of their germans, or their terrific tanks. Also Britains upcoming Germans do look very good, and that British Artillery set looks very good too. Let's get excellent, detailed pictures on the Net...

Best regards,
Paulo

I dabble in some Britains WW2 US stuff. I like the Shermans, but they aren't the same quality as King and Country. They could also use a little more homework on them.

I have enjoyed the Britains artillery. I have the 75mm Pack Howitzer, the 155 "Long Tom" and the 105mm howitzer.

So Britains WW2 stuff is not ignored at my house.

Greetings from DC...I've been collecting Britains since 1980's. Looking for Plastic Britains from the 80's. Anyone have any they want to sell or point me in the right direction. Thanks.

This is a great site, good work.. and congrats to the Owners. Well done. :)

Hi All you Britains collectors out there. My question is has anyone found a good reference site on the web? I am looking for info on some older sets as well as a detailed list of what should be included in the Dehli Durbar set so I can try and plug a few gaps. I have nearly all of the pieces for it but there are some gaps. I have sent emails to the people at Britains Collectors Club but they have not been too responsive to these sort of inquires and to be honest their website is really out of date and hasnt been updated in a long time from what I can see. Any help out there?

Well I am here again looking for some sort of help on research for sets of different soldiers. Aside from the really expensive book by Mr Opie on the subject has anyone found a place we can access to get info on Britains. Also anyone have any more thoughts on what they would like to see produced and why? The boys over on the King & Country pages are going wild with all sorts of discussion on this subject. I for one would like to see some more sets of Gurkhas especially their color partys. Anyone?

I don't ignored Britain's I got hooked on collecting toy solders with Britain's. I modeled OO UK trains before my eyes & hands gave up on me. I go to England to visit a dear friend who models US trains. We used up two weeks back in 1999 just going to hobby shops in the UK. This was great fun. I got a few soldiers and from there it went wild.

I am looking forward to the upcoming set Britian's is going release based on the 502nd PIR of the 101st ABN during D-Day. This is of personal interst to me because my wife's father was in the 502nd Easy Company from D-Day to the end of the war.

I do belive K&C has a better product and I now prefer them. But it is the history I also love.

Hello,

I am an avid collector of Britains whether it be farm, zoo, soldiers etc. The bulk of my collection is farm (lead & plastic). I have recently started to get into the new metal models. I do prefer the Ceremonial side of collecting including adding different British regiments. Currently I have the Irish State coach (the connectors for the horses were a HUGE disappointment) I also have a couple of pieces from the Trooping of the Colour and life guards & horse guards.
I would like to see Britains expand on the Ceremonial series. I would also like to see them do a Roman Empire theme and maybe some Egyptians. I think for the most part thy provide a good compromise between quality and value for money.

Looking forward to what is next on the drawing board :)

Hi britfarmer,

Welcome to the Treefrog Forum. It is great to see another Britains fan join us. You will find many friends here and, among them, you will find some Britains collectors. I look forward to hearing more about your collection. I would be especially interested in seeing some of your farm collection and your Irish Coach. Is it possible for you to post some pictures and show us some of these exciting and creative figures?

Again, welcome to the forum. Please visit frequently and post often!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

I think you'll find a lot of Britains fans on the forum. There are so many fantastic things around the corner, not to mention the things produced and available in the last several years already. I absolutely love the current Victoria Cross series and have been eagerly awaiting the release of more figures in this range. Also, am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new Zulu War ranges, and British Regiments ranges hopefully any day now. I believe the ACW range is the best currently available for the subject material, and I could go on. The new catalog should be out this week or next and am excited to see what is in store for the next 6 months or so.

Mister Dave.

Hi Dave,
I've posted the same question a couple of times on this forum. You actually responded to my post back in 2006!
http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1124

Anyway... as far as I know a good web reference doesn't exist. I use this site once in a while: http://membres.lycos.fr/toysoldiers/. But, it's just some PDF versions of the catalog and hasn't been updated in years.

Awhile back I started messing around with creating a MS Word doc with links to photos, but it's a lot of work. If I remember correctly, I even cut and pasted your list of DELHI DURBAR stuff from this forum.

Would you (or anyone else?) be interested in working together to create one "master" Britains list? I'd be willing to help convert it to HTML if we could find some free web space.

Something like this?

Maybe upload PDF versions of some old catalogs as well?

There’s a list of sets made before 1966 here.

This is a work in progress(I try to add a few photos on a daily basis) with no claims of it being definitive-corrections, suggestions are always welcome!
