Should Clarify.

Moved to San Antonio, Texas (home of the great King's X Toy Soldier Shop) a few years back after living in Hampton Roads, Virginia.

No Upstate, near Buffalo, -- where they have trees and green grass and fields, and no smog, no traffic, no taxis, etc., etc.
Cool bananas. My girlfriend and I went to the States in 2000 (pre 9-11).

We visited Gettysburg and New York City.

Taxis are the best way I can desciribe the differences between the two cities....

NYC: 70,000 yellow cabs.
Gettysburg: 1 (and it had to come from Harrisburg). :D

I have already noticed collectors in this forum from other countries:
Slovenia, Belgium, France, Spain, they probably haven't yet bumped into this poll:D

Right, we're heavily represented from the English-speaking world, except for India.

As far as Germany goes, I suspect that if anyone collects figures, he would tend more towards serious or connoisseur figures, and more likely to the traditional flats, rather than fully-round figures. That is a generalization, of course, and I recognize that there can be exceptions. But I'm thinking of likelihoods.

Don't know about the French, but I did notice that we don't have a Mignot category defined, whether as a self-standing forum area, or as a category under "Other Manufacturers". If we do, I missed it.

Prosit!

You're right VIRIATO. :D

This is how I chose the 20 poll options.

I clicked onto the Member List, then listed them by most Posts.

I ignored forum members from the U.S. as they clearly dominate this forum.

I recorded every non-American forum member that had 1 post or more and came up with Canada (2nd), U.K. (3rd, mostly from England) and amazingly my beautiful country (Australia) 4th.

Obviously with nearly 300 recognised nations, states or territories in the world I needed an Elsewhere option.

That left me with 15 other poll options so I listed forum member nations with 2 or more members.

Unfortunately VIRIATO you were the only forum member who hailed from the beautiful nation of Portugal.

Poll Options

So it made perfect sense to make the poll options as follows:

1. United States
2. Canada
3. England
4. Australia

The rest of the world went in geographical order from Northern Ireland to New Zealand (our Anzac brothers). :)

Ireland born and raised. Looks like it's just Bernard and I flying the flag for the Emerald Isle at the moment though!

Cheers,

Molloy.

Yes, that's true, there other collectors in Portugal ( K&C or Britains collectors for instance ) but I believe I am the only one here:rolleyes:. Thanks for your compliment about Portugal. Likewise about Australia, from what I hear.
The poll is very well made up, thanks for it.

Paulo

I believe K&C must have some success in Germany. I've seen it for sale in German sites, together with Tradition, Britains or Frontline.

Absolutely. Like I said, I'm speaking of generalities, allowing that there are certainly exceptions.

I've noticed on eBay/Germany that there are frequent listings for the del Prado line, too.

Prosit!

I was born and raised in Germany. Got an opportunity by my employer to move to the U.S. in 1995. It started out as a 3-year contract. That is now long time ago and I got stuck here. Love it :)
Offerings and interest in the 54mm or 60mm full-bodied metal figures are by far not comparable with the market here in the U.S. for example, but over in Germany there is still a high demand for the early composition or later hard plastic Elastolin Hausser figures in the 70mm scale, as well as the hard plastic 40mm Elastolin Hausser figures. Both lines, 70 and 40mm, are still distributed as kits by the railroad scenics supplier "Preiser". The 70mm figures can also be purchased as painted figures, but definetely do not match the originals by Hausser imo.
The Flats were the main Toy Soldier Style in Germany for many, many decades and are still popular.
Hey Brad (The Baron), learning here that you spent a while down in the South (of Germany that is) explains now that you have a true Bavarian accent :) whenever you garnish you posts with some German sentences.
Hope you liked it down there.
We would have never met though, cause I am a "Preiss". The Bavarians consider anybody north of their border as "Preiss" :D which means Prussian.

Prost miteinand!
Konrad
