Where for are thou First Legion? (1 Viewer)

I'm on the First Legion Facebook page and other then the Nap releases in April it has been all quiet on the FL front, I only started this thread to see if there is discussion out there or maybe someone has some communication with what's up? Not a shot at FL or anything, I collect the brand and in hopes of better days!! Also a nut punch on Facebook is the FL collectors group page where you could post photos and such, for unknown reasons the page was removed 🤬🤬 now there isn't anywhere to post FL photos accept in other groups, which is ok but I miss the FL group page.

Pretty sure that the FL collectors group was started by Constantine and since Russia banned Facebook there is no longer a FL collectors page

I had a message from Constantine, he basically said that many things are in the works but logistics are terrible.

I was looking forward to their release of the Franco-Prussian War artillery set. Would go well with Team's FPW range.

There is a boatload of releases on the way, some things are out of manufacturers control.

Patience is a virtue.

Not a FL collector, did collect the Crusaders but other TS took priority and something had to give, they are real quality and i think the WW2 winter Germans are outstanding, have 3 but price and 'bang for my buck' as they say, meant i got more with other ranges i collect, so keep my eye out for bargins and do sometimes bid on evilbay to my limit, but normally get beaten by higher bids, but such is life.

I do sincerely hope that FL get back on track, over their issues and challenges and we see some new releases, glad to hear are a lot of releases in the pipeline.

The FL WW2 Germans posts by fmethorst are amongst my favourite posts/picture on the forum, likes work of art.

This thread has made for a fascinating read. A few takeaways for me…..

1. We’ve (I’ve) been horrid at updating our customers. That changes now.
2. We have faced challenges that no other company has faced (I.e. Russia on top of Covid). We spent 2021 setting up figure manufacturing and vehicle MFR’ing IN RUSSIA and got great results (see M113). We did this because, well, we couldn’t enter China at all. And we had to close it all earlier this year after investing lots of time and capital due to US sanctions (I’m not going to prison to make toy soldiers - sorry).
3. Our “Big Sale” was a ridiculous success for us and perhaps i got a little lazy or careless. No on second thought, i definitely got more than a little lazy. 2020/2021 record years for us.
4. As someone said somewhere in this thread, we absolutely do not view the audience here as our customer base. Too many trolls and bullshit. Sorry Julie. We know who we are, we know that we are currently the most “emulated” (putting it nicely) toy soldier company in the world right now. Our figures have completely changed the expectations of what a customer expects when collecting.

I may or may not keep posting on this forum. As i said elsewhere, i tend to take the criticism personally and it’s not a productive use of my time. But i think it was George from MInuteman who pointed out to me that folks here think we’re dying and i responded back to him basically “Huh?”. So i decided to come and see after several years of not even looking at this place. That perception couldn’t be further from reality. We are a company with pretty large ambitions - we have extended into other markets, and that takes time and energy.

All of this being said - i do want to offer and apology to all of our long time loyal customers. You haven’t gotten the attention you’ve deserved from us over the past 2 years. But fear not - we’re fine, we’re releasing a ton of stuff, and …. I guess I’m back. To the detriment of all forum readers. ^&grin

Matt,

I am glad to see you back and look forward to new figures from First Legion.

Kind regards,

Alex

Hi Matt,

We've never spoken but First Legion makes some truly impressive pieces. I think the old saying goes: "don't let the turkeys get you down".
Best of luck on your future pieces.
:salute::

Matt

Glad to see you posting Matt and hope all is otherwise well.

Welcome back, Matt! Like others have already mentioned, it's good to see you back posting again. What's even better is the email & news of upcoming releases I received. I've not collected FL figures in a long time, but I'm definitely considering collecting some if your figures again.

I hope you continue to consider going back re-releasing some of the older Stalingrad figures. I know you've done this before and it was a welcomed decision. Your Stalingrad Germans were and still are some of the best released figures from any company in my opinion.

Thanks Matt fir your beautiful figures and good on you for ignoring the haters. Modern online life and social media has given a voice to a bunch of people who think they are something but have never done anything but whinge.
Jas
