hi all,

as promised some time ago here are photos of one of the Toy Shops in London which does still stock TGM, K&C, Del Prado and many others. Its Antonio's Traditional Games shop behind the main Covent Garden market building in central London (Picadilly Tube).

Photos below. Its next door to the London Transport Museum which should make it easier to find. Its in the Jubilee Market Hall (behind the main Covent Garden market building). Enter the Jubilee Market Hall using the left hand side entrance and its second or third shop down on the left. Its small but well stocked and has plenty of good stuff as you can see from the photos!

Zhi is the guy onsite - with the baseball cap and glasses. Owner Allesandro who regularly attends the London Toy soldier shows with Zhi.

Parts 2 and 3 will come soon showing the "Armoury of Saint James" shop in Picadilly (photos coming so you can all find it and see what it stocks) and the National Army Museum Shop in Central London just south of the river.

Cheers,

Stefan

Where to find Toy Soldiers in London - part 2 (of 3)

Hi all,

ok as promised here is part 2 of Toy shops in London to Visit. This one is the "Royal Armoury of St James" in Picadilly (Picadilly Circus underground station) Their main business is selling Militaria but they also stock K&C, TGM, Britains, JGM and Tradition as you can see from the photos. They have some lovely dioramas inside the shop.

They have a pretty good website so just search on google for it and you will see.

Taken about 10 years ago, but it hasn't changed much, and I visited there last year too.

Brings back nice memories.^&cool^&cool I went there in 2003 when I took my then girlfriend (now wife) to London to get engaged. If I remember correctly they had a ton of Frontline and Russian figures for sale then, along with some fantastic militaria.:smile2:

The Guards Museum Shop is a 'must-visit' whenever I get to London and David is a wonderful host and makes a great cuppa tea!
All the best,
Andy.

Great displays. I’ll be back in London in September.

Re: Where to find Toy Soldiers in London - part 3 (of 3)

Hello rossim1,
Along with other members it was great to see images from 3 stores that we know. Many thanks to Command Sergeant Major and others for posting the images. The Guards' shop is where I bought ,as an adult, my first toy soldiers, the honour of the where I bought my first miniature to construct and paint goes to the long departed -- Toy Tub that was in Comely Bank/Stockbridge in Edinburgh. However I digress. In addition to the above a visit to Toy soldiers, Portobello Road, Notting Hill, London. run by Andy Morant looks worthwhile. I spotted that he will be at the London Show on 30th June, sadly I wont. Some of his stock though can be seen on his site - http://www.andymoranttoys.co.uk/market-stock/ He impresses as have a vast number of figures many in the more traditional style and some early figures. I intend looking his place up the next time I am in London.
Good Luck to all at the London Show on 30th June, exhibitors and collectors, and I am well aware these are not 2 separate groups.

Re: Where to find Toy Soldiers in London - part 3 (of 3)

Hi,
Just realised that I should have attributed the work done in posting the pictures to sfarrelly and that I used Andy's "rank" rather than his name. A bad day at the proof reading desk. Apologies all round, and once again thanks for the images.
